At the time, the popular talk show was put on hold as an investigation was reportedly launched to make sure the work environment at The Ellen DeGeneres Show was professional and not toxic.
Since the news of the talk show ending was made public, there have been questions as to what show will take the coveted time slot from the popular daytime show.
NBCUniversal shared the news on Wednesday that Kelly Clarkson’s talk show will be replacing Ellen’s spot next season. While it’s hard for fans to hear that Ellen, where they have shared many a laugh, is ending, it at least got a worthy successor to replace it, or its spot at least, (okay, geez, I know the show is irreplaceable, don’t kill me over my sentence).
NBC Universal Releases A Statement On Kelly Clarkson & The Ellen DeGeneres Show
Valari Staab, NBCUniversal local president, released a statement on Wednesday, May 26.
“These are remarkable achievements for a talk show in its second season,” Valeri Staab revealed, following the news that Ellen DeGeneres’ syndicated daytime talk show will end in spring 2022 after its 19th season. “We look forward to Ellen DeGeneres’ 19th season paired with Kelly Clarkson for what is sure to be a blockbuster year. “Kelly and our entire production team put their heart, intent, and incredible passion into making a show that resonates with people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds,” Tracie continued. “We’re working on some big plans for season three and are looking forward to becoming the premier show in daytime for years to come.”
Ellen DeGeneres’ Reason For Ending Her Famous Show
Ellen DeGeneres has denied any and all claims that her show is ending because of the recent controversy that the show, herself included, has endured.
During the pandemic, disgruntled workers began to speak out about the toxic work environment that they endure on Ellen. The allegations reportedly came to light because people’s paychecks were slashed, and since there wasn’t any enticing payment to keep them silent anymore, the floodgates opened and a lot of hidden things came to the light.
Fans called for the end of the show, Ellen DeGeneres especially faced the wrath of an audience who found out that her kindly character on the show was not her character in the real world.
At the end of the day, the network airing the show fired two high-profile producers and considered the matter done. The Ellen DeGeneres Show returned on-air as nothing had happened. Anyway, that’s water over a rock now, as Ellen DeGeneres announced the end of her show, promising that it was her intention to do so.
“The past 18 years, you have to know, have changed my life. You all have changed my life. And I am forever grateful to all of you for watching, for laughing, for dancing, sometimes crying,” the comedian said while tearing up on air. “This show has been the greatest experience of my life, and I owe it all to you. So, thank you, thank you, thank you.”
“I sat with it for a while. I meditated on it,” she continued in the May 13 episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “Two years ago, I signed a deal for three more years, and I always knew in my heart that season 19 would be my last.”
As to why she is ending her own show, the television presenter explained: “The truth is, I always trust my instincts. My instinct told me, it’s time. As a comedian, I’ve always understood the importance of timing. In all seriousness, I truly have felt like next season was the right time to end this amazing chapter.”
