Kelly Osbourne Clarifies What Her Ozempic Comments Really Mean

Last month, the “Shut Up” singer Kelly Osbourne was blasted for the comments she dropped about Ozempic drug during her interview with E! News.

First of all, Ozempic is a medication for Type 2 diabetes and patients with heart disease. However, the side effect of the drug is massive weight loss.

But then, although it’s super pricey, due to how effective its weight loss is, a lot of people go for it, especially celebrities who can afford it.

According to several reports, there’s shortage of Ozempic for its real patients because of the way it’s been purchased by the wealthy just to lose weight.

Kelly Osbourne Clarifies What Her Ozempic Comments Really Mean

Amongst the stars who have testified that their massive weight loss was all thanks to Ozempic includes Kelly’s mom Sharon Osbourne.

During Kelly’s interview with E! News, the “One Word” singer showered praises on the drug and said, “There are a million ways to lose weight — why not do it through something that’s isn’t as boring as working out?”

She went on to add, “People hate on it because they want to do it. And the people who hate on it the most are the people who are secretly doing it, or pissed off that they can’t afford it. Unfortunately, right now it’s something that is very expensive, but it eventually won’t be because it actually works.”

Kelly Osbourne — Reactions To Kelly’s Comments

Most people didn’t take Kelly’s comments lightly, especially the part where she said that haters are “pissed off that they can’t afford it.” They took to several social media platforms to call the 39-year-old singer out.

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), someone wrote, “Actually i think it’s mostly the diabetic people who can’t access their medication because everyone else is using it as get skinny quick fix but ok.” Someone else added, “Rich ppl have easy access to healthy food options, personal trainers and chefs but they choose to take ozempic that’s not meant for them and causing shortages for those who truly need them.”

On Reddit, someone slammed, “Yes Kelly, that’s why people are complaining, because we’re jealous poors. Not at all because the weight loss craze has caused medical shortages for diabetics or anything like that.” Another cried, “Sure my mom who is diabetic had to switch medications because people who don’t actually need it are using it and she could never get it refilled but we’re all just haters!!!”

And a third who sounds like a health worker wrote, “Yeah, when many of my diabetic patients can’t get their prescription because these celebs keep pushing it on backorder, I’m going to be a hater.”

Kelly Osbourne — Kelly’s Response To Her Ozempic Backlash

During a recent episode of her family’s podcast “The Osbournes Podcast” which is usually hosted by her dad Ozzy, her mom Sharon, her brother Jack, and herself, Kelly decided to set the record straight on the controversy that her stance with Ozempic caused online.

At first, the mom of one revealed that normally, when it comes to societal conversations, she’s “not educated enough to answer these questions properly sometimes. Like, I have my opinion on stuff, but I could be more educated on the topic, if you know what I’m saying.”

She further explained that she most times shy away from sharing her opinions on public matters because even though it might be received by half and booed by the other half, later on, everyone will be against it, and she ends up being misunderstood.

“You just never want to offend anyone, so I’m so scared to fucking say anything,” said the “Come Dig Me Out” singer before using her Ozempic comments to buttress her point. “Like 50% of the people hated it, 50% of people liked it. And then on TikTok, everyone hated it.”

Standing by her original comments, she said, “The truth is, my opinion used to be the same as the people who didn’t like my opinion on Ozempic, until I met somebody who lost weight from Ozempic and [they said how] it changed their life.”

She continued, “They explained to me how it took the mental obsession with food away and it allowed them, from that reprieve, to dig deep into therapy and really figure out who they were and how life-changing it was for them. It completely changed my opinion on it,” Kelly added. “So I’m like, ‘Yeah, it’s great.’ If there’s a medication out there that can help people lose weight, then what’s so bad about it?”
