Kelly Ripa just shocked her talk show audience by bringing up the topic of death. And specifically, the “Live with Kelly and Mark” star focused on what to wear to her funeral.
But while that might sound quirky, even for Ripa, she did offer an explanation of why her funeral wardrobe seems so important. Get all the details below.
Mark Consuelos Gets A Warning
Kelly Ripa just issued a warning to her hubby Mark Consuelos. And it concerns what the talk show host wants to wear to her funeral. As Kelly informed Mark on their talk show, “it’s a Dolce & Gabbana black dress. It’s 10 years old. It’s elegant, it’s gorgeous, it’s black, it’s adorable,” she added via People.
However, while the audience did a double-take, Ripa explained on “Live with Kelly & Mark” that she feels concerned about what her hubby might choose without her guidance.
And so the 53-year-old decided to pick out a dress and stash it in her closet for her funeral to avoid Mark choosing something “crazy.” However, Kelly warned him to be sure and use that dress for her final resting place.
But Kelly confessed that she worries about the funeral overall. For instance, the talk show host admitted, “I’m so fearful if he has to eulogize me.” And the confession came after celebrating her 27th anniversary with Mark.
Kelly Ripa Frets About Her Funeral
But Ripa predicted that Consuelos will offer food after the funeral that includes “a buffet of all my least-favorite things. It’ll be deviled eggs, it’ll be chicken wings, it’ll be glasses of milk.” But then Mark cautioned his wife about saying anything mean.
And he pointed out, “Hey, watch out because I’m going to have to dress you as well. You better be nice now, or I’m going to put you in something crazy!”
However, Ripa then reminded Consuelos that she choose her funeral outfit. And she noted, “Let me remind you where the outfit hangs. It is labeled and Lauren knows about it. It’s a Dolce & Gabbana black dress. It’s 10 years old. It’s elegant, it’s gorgeous, it’s black, it’s adorable.”
However, Ripa previously revealed that she chose a funeral outfit after a near-death experience. And after her first child arrived, Kelly fainted. Mark then called 9-1-1.
And Kelly explained, “I was naked when I passed out. In that time, he dressed me. And as they were putting me on a stretcher I remember pulling the sheet over my head because I didn’t want people to see me dressed this way.”
But Ripa recalled, “They kept pulling the sheet down, that means you’re dead. And I’m like, please, I would rather be dead right now.” As for that outfit? Her husband chose a green leotard, his own black sweatpants, and her red pumps. And after seeing that unflattering outfit, Kelly decided to pick out her own funeral clothes.
