Kevin Bacon Expresses His Desire To Return For A “Tremors” Sequel Following A Fan’s Comment

Hopefully, Kevin Bacon is the guy that gets movie producers to really look into giving fans one more taste of the horror film “Tremors”. I mean, he’s been slyly campaigning for it over and over again for many years. In fact, “Tremors” is the only movie of his that he’s watched after it premiered, and of course, it’s also the only one he’s openly acknowledged time and time that he wants to appear in again.

After telling Esquire magazine in 2021 that he’s looking forward to starring in a sequel, he followed it up by declaring to a fan that he’s waiting on the call to get into action. When a fan tweeted that the latest “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” trailer “makes me REALLY want to see a new Tremors movie that isn’t direct to DVD,” Bacon decided to join the conversation. “I’m just waiting for the call…,” he wrote, adding the worm emoji as a tease.

It’s been 33 years since the Ron Underwood-directed film – now referred to as a cult classic by loyal fans – won over a massive audience with a cast that included Bacon, the late Fred Ward, Reba McEntire, and others. Set in the town of Perfection, Nevada, the film sees residents try to defend themselves against underground worm-like creatures.

Kevin Bacon – On the Future Of “Tremors” Following Several Direct-to-Video Sequels

As a result of the original movie’s popularity, it produced several direct-to-video sequels that didn’t feature most of the main cast. The sequels include “Tremors 2: Aftershocks”, “Tremors 3: Back to Perfection”, “Tremors 4: The Legend Begins”, “Tremors 5: Bloodlines, Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell”, and “2020’s Tremors: Shrieker Island”.

In 2021, he told Esquire that he’d been previously approached to star in a sequel by Universal, but he turned them down at the time because it would’ve been direct-to-video. However, he hoped to rekindle his relationship around 2015. “I would still love to do it, believe me,” Bacon said in 2021, after detailing the failed plan to make it into a series. “Maybe it needs to be the 30th anniversary or the 35th. We’ll keep going.”
