Kevin Bacon – Praises Daughter For Acing Hard Role In “Smile”

Kevin Bacon may be a critical parent, but as an actor himself, he knows when to appreciate his children’s efforts and the time they put into perfecting their roles.

But even knowing how brilliant Sosie, 30, is, he admitted to still being awed when he watched her latest role in the Paramount hit movie, which is so far the highest grossing horror movie of 2022.

“When she got this part [in Smile], even knowing how hard she had worked, and knowing she was good, when I saw the movie I was just really taken aback with,” he said during an interview with the Hollywood Reporter. “Not only with how great she was but also how hard that role was, because it’s one of those parts where there is no break.

“Usually, you start out and the character’s pretty happy for at least, you know, 15 minutes or 20 minutes before everything becomes horrible. But that’s a movie where the stress level is [insane]. I was very proud of her,” Kevin added.

Sosie previously saw success in Netflix’s “13 Reasons Why” in 2017 and 2018. But her latest movie has so far earned more than $171 million on a $17 million budget, according to Box Office Mojo.

Kevin Bacon – Opens Up About The Time His Daughter’s Love Of Acting Sparked

For a long time, the Bacon family wasn’t sure if Sosie had a passion for acting, until her early twenties, when she finally made up her mind to pursue a career in acting. “Usually, you start out and the character’s pretty happy for at least, you know, 15 minutes or 20 minutes before everything becomes horrible. But that’s a movie where the stress level is [insane]. I was very proud of her,” Kevin added.

As for Kevin, while his role in “Friday the 13th” was truly commendable, he had had prior experience appearing in 1978’s “Animal House” and a handful of soap operas.

At the time of the movie’s release, Bacon said that he didn’t expect the movie, which has since spawned a franchise with 12 movies, to become that successful, especially since it was a low-budget indie movie.
