Kevin Costner and his estranged wife Christine just escalated their divorce wars. And the Yellowstone actor got especially heated over Christine’s requests for child support payments. But Costner also indicated that he thinks Christine wants the money for her own needs rather than for the children.
Find out exactly how much Kevin’s estranged wife wants in child support payments. And learn how Costner reacted. Get all the details below.
Kevin Costner – Slams Estranged Wife’s Child Support Demands
Yellowstone actor Kevin Costner believes that his estranged wife Christine has demanded child support payments much higher than needed for their three children.
And the actor slammed Christine’s request for $248,000 per month as “highly inflated and unsubstantiated.” The estranged spouses share three children, reported People.
“Guideline monthly child support based on Kevin’s gross cash flow available for support is $123,620,” per the court document. And the Yellowstone actor stated his belief that Christine wants the money to benefit herself rather than their kids Cayden, 16, Hayes, 14, and Grace, 13. Costner, 68, reacted strongly to the demands, saying, “Providing the minor children with more than bare necessities does not require providing ludicrous extravagance designed to primarily benefit the supported parent.”
Because the couple had a prenup, Christine is entitled to a settlement of $1.4 million. But the 49-year-old also wants “$248,000 total for all three children” per month in child support payments. However, Costner’s estranged wife denied that she wants some of that money for herself. And she claimed that the sum “is less than the amount needed to maintain the children in their accustomed lifestyle.”
In addition, Christine wants Costner to pay 100% of private-school tuition, extracurricular activities/sports and health-care expenses for their daughter and sons. However, she did not include spousal support in her court documents. But Costner’s legal team fought back against those requests.
Kevin Costner – Wants To Keep As Much As Possible In Divorce Wars
The Yellowstone actor’s team contended in court documents that Christine included her own expenses in the child support request. And the response in part read, “Christine allocates 60% of expenses such as private trainer, unallocated credit-card expenses, and her plastic surgery to the minor children without any explanation or basis. The children do not use the services of private trainers, only Christine does.” However, Costner elaborated on the plastic surgery issue. And he added, “The plastic surgery expenses of $188,500/month belong to Christine – not the children.”
And the actor pointed out, “Christine should know which credit-card expenses were for her and which were for the children. But not even a minimal effort is made to allocate them accurately,” noted the documents. But an insider shared that Costner “wants to hold on to as much as he can.”
However, Christine believes the money is needed so that she can arrange a “suitable separate household.” That would let her move out of the estate where she and Kevin have lived since they tied the knot. And an insider on her side clarified, “She wants Kevin to provide what they are used to.”
