There’s horses, gunslingers, cowboys and enough tension to keep the most demanding of us riveted… Welcome to the wild world of Kevin Costner’s “Horizon: An American Saga.”
Kevin Costner’s New Movie Teases Tension Between Native Americans and the Settlers
Kevin Costner’s newest “passion” project has a true ring to “Yellowstone,” so much so that fans from that era of his life will have a lot to admire about it.
Finally, the four-part post-Civil War Western that made him say goodbye to his biggest TV role – “Yellowstone’s” John Dutton, that is – is almost here.
It couldn’t have come any sooner too, since it’s been thirty years in the making and Costner even had to mortgage one of his beachfront properties to help finance the project.
“You and I are standing guard on one of the last great open spaces,” we hear actor Danny Huston saying, as we see scenes featuring wagon trains, indigenous warriors, the settlers and horses. “These people think that if they’re tough enough, smart enough, and mean enough, all this will be theirs some day. There’s no army of this earth that’s gonna stop those wagons coming, little as they’re wanted.”
The calm soon gives way to struggles as a group of settlers are attacked in the middle of the night, with their homes and wagons set on fire.
By the end of the trailer, we hear laughter and “looks like we got ourselves a bad man right here.” So yeah, it’s a movie that contains punchy dialogues as well as it’s got bad-ass scenes.
What Is Kevin Costner’s “Horizon: An American Saga” All About
Per the movie’s logline, it “explores the lure of the Old West and how it was won—and lost—through the blood, sweat and tears of many.
Spanning the four years of the Civil War, from 1861 to 1865, Costner’s ambitious cinematic adventure will take audiences on an emotional journey across a country at war with itself, experienced through the lens of families, friends and foes all attempting to discover what it truly means to be the United States of America.”
Costner wrote, directed and starred in the movie as a lead character. Apart from Costner’s efforts, it will also show fans glimpses of his youngest son Hayes.
But apart from the project seeming Costner-centric, it also boasts an impressive cast that includes Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Jena Malone, Tatanka Means, Danny Huston, Will Patton, Luke Wilson, Jamie Campbell Bower, Giovanni Ribisi, and more.
