Kim Kardashian Gets Slammed For Wearing Marilyn Monroe Gown

The Kardashians news, and updates tease that Kim Kardashian received disapproval from a fashion designer when she wore the iconic Marilyn Monroe gown during Met Gala.

At the recent Met Gala, Kim Kardashian caught the eye of the public when she graced the red carpet with a Marilyn Monroe outfit, which the singer wore to sing “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” to John F. Kennedy last 1962. For the Met Gala’s after-party, the SKIMS founder changed to another classic Marilyn Monroe green sequined gown that she wore during Golden Globes in 1962.

After the Met Gala fever, the 41-year-old model was spotted accompanying her daughter, North West, in her basketball game in Los Angeles. She rocked her blonde hair as she walked in the streets wearing an all-black outfit and sneakers. She was caught by the camera chatting with North who was clad in her basketball jersey.

However, amidst the support the SKIMS founder got when wearing the iconic gown, the fashion designer, Bob Mackie, was not delighted with the idea, and hailed it as a “big mistake.” The 82-year-old designer, who sketched the original gown while working as an assistant to Jean Louis, chat with the Entertainment Weekly while previewing the new Turner Classics Movies’ fashion on film series, “Follow the Thread,” and stated his thoughts about Marilyn Monroe’s gown.

“Marilyn was a goddess. A crazy goddess, but a goddess. She was just fabulous. Nobody photographs like that, and it was done for her. Nobody else should be seen in that dress,” Bob Mackie said. He also shared the possible concerns of the historians that wearing the gown was damaging to its preservation and structural integrity.

The Met Gala was also Kardashian and Pete Davidson’s red-carpet debut as a couple since the mother-of-four publicly announced their relationship in social media and television interviews. They were first rumored to be romantically involved when they were spotted together hand in hand on a rollercoaster at Knott’s Scary Farm in Buena Park, California and when they shared a kiss onscreen when the KKW Beauty founder made her hosting debut on Saturday Night Live (SNL).

In other news, the popular couple got sweet words from the iconic retail businesswoman and television personality, Martha Stewart, when they encountered together at the recent White House Correspondents’ Dinner. “They seem to have a nice affection for one another, which is so nice,” she told E! News.
