It’s also worthy of note that this ongoing movement on Instagram was started by someone under the name of @illuminati and it wouldn’t have gone viral real quick had the Kardashian-Jenners not shared the post and lent their voice to it.
Kim Kardashian & Kylie Jenner — About The Instagram Movement
If you’re a very big fan of social media or if you’re a social media person, by this, I don’t mean you must have massive followership or always make posts, I mean, if you’re active on social media, Instagram to be exact, you’d have observed that there’s been a slight change in the application.
The application has been showing more of reels than photos. Everywhere, videos, it also shows more of recommendation notifications too. In fact, Instagram is now more of videos and if care is not taken, it’ll turn into TikTok that doesn’t allow pictures because it has no picture feature. So, this has been a bit of a problem for Instagram lovers like us that post our sleek photos constantly and sometimes not just our personal photos but our business pictures too.
When someone with a @illuminati account began the movement of making Instagram back to being the Instagram we once loved with the caption “I’m starting a movement. Let’s bring back the old Instagram, share this to your stories and SIGN MY PETITION. LINK ON MY STORY. SHARE THIS EVERYWHEREEEEE LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOO” with an image that reads; “Make Instagram Instagram again. Stop trying to be TikTok I just want to see cute photos of my friends. Sincerely, Everyone.” It was as if the movement wouldn’t hold water until one of the highest core Instagram users in the person of Kylie Jenner reposted the post with her own caption “PLEASEEEEEEE”
Kim Kardashian also joined her baby sister to repost the same post with her own caption “PRETTY PLEASE”. Tell you what, with the number of followers Kylie and Kim have, even combined, it was more than enough to make the movement spread like wildfire, and it did because it had the CEO of Instagram calling with an explanation.
Kim Kardashian & Kylie Jenner — Instagram CEO Responds
Well, the protest sure did yield fruit, because the CEO of Instagram Adam Mosseri responded with explanations of what’s going on with the app.
Adam explained that they’re carrying out experiments on the app and because the world is evolving, they want to evolve with it by adding new features to it, Adam also said not to worry that the videos won’t have to be a few minutes or snappy videos like TikTok videos although, he did mention that moving forward, Instagram will be more of videos than pictures, he also made it clear that, the more of videos doesn’t mean it will no longer accommodate pictures, he said the app will still accept pictures but if they look around or rather paid more attention, they would notice that people post more of videos than pictures lately.
“I want to be clear: We’re going to continue to support photos. It’s part of our heritage, that said, I need to be honest: I do believe that more and more of Instagram is going to become video over time. We see this even if we change nothing. We see this even if you just look at chronological feed.”
