The loungewear and shapewear brand was founded in 2019 by the reality star and enterprenuer Jens Grede. It has become successful over the years. Sales of SKIMs haven’t slowed down.

Five in-person stores will open across the United States. The brand keeps growing despite the growing criticism. Keep on reading to learn more.

Skim Launches 5 In-Person Storms

Per Independent, Kim Kardashian‘s SKIMS will open five in-person stores in Aventura, Florida; Atlanta, Georgia; Austin and Houston, Texas; and Georgetown, DC. The DC location will be the first to open. The 3,300-square-foot store opened on Thursday, June 13.

The first SKIMS store will offer women’s apparel. Men’s apparel will arrive to the stores during the third quarter. The Georgetown location already had a line of fans in front of the store before the doors opened at 10am.

The interior of the stores matches Kim Kardashian’s style. They feature neutral tones and sleek furniture. The brand is known for its minimalist style. Many TikTokers shared their thoughts about the opening of SKIMS.

Industry expert, Bernard Garby explained what this could mean for Kim’s company and her growing empire. The Kardashians launched pop-up stores in the past. They also had their successful DASH clothing line and retail store. But these SKIMS in-person stores will become permanent.

The brand has also collaborated with high-end brands like Fendi and Swarovski. This allows customers to experience luxury goods within the brand’s price range. SKIMS is also available at participating Nordstorm department stores.

Kim Kardashian is distancing herself from the brand. She no longer wants to be the face of SKIMS. Garby says this is a smart decision. She wants the brand to succeed as it could become listed on the stock exchange. Kim might consider selling the business to a willing investor at some point.

SKIMS is a massive success. But it’s not without negative reviews. Fans slammed Kim Kardashian’s brand for having “defective merchandise.” A product was removed from the website for a huge mistake.

The product in question was a bridal thong three-pack that featured sultry sayings. One of them read, “Your Mine” instead of “You’re Mine.” One fan documented the grammatical error on Reddit. Several fans took to the thread to address this common spelling error.

“How did no one catch this, there has to be at least 10 people that green light stuff,” one fan wondered.

“How did absolutely no one notice this before literally making the product?” another user asked.

“I’ve seen Kim use ‘your’ many times,” a third user noted.

SKIMS dropped the wedding line on Thursday, March 28. The line features lace lingerie, pajamas, shapewear, and other goodies. Despite its expansion, SKIMS faced criticism for its overpriced and poor quality products. Last year, it was under investigation for using software to track visitors’ website activity without their consent.
