L.A County D.A. Gascon Supports Menendez Brothers Resentencing – Men Could Be Eligible For Parole Immediately If Judge Agrees

Breaking news for the Menendez Brothers and their supporters.  Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón held a press conference this afternoon, Thursday, October 24, regarding the brothers resentencing.

Erik and Lyle Menendez were sent to prison for the 1989 murders of their parents Jose and Kitty Menendez, in the family’s home in Beverly Hills.

Thanks to the LA DA’s recommendation, it’s now up to a judge to review the case with all new pertinent evidence. If approved, this gives the Menendez brothers a chance at freedom after serving 34 years in jail.

Menendez Brothers Resentencing – Erik & Lyle Could Be Eligible For Parole Immediately

DA Gascón noted that he plans on recommending to the court that Erik and Lyle’s life sentence be removed. It the judge agrees after review, this means the men could be released from prison to serve on parole, immediately.

Erik and Lyle Menendez are currently in prison serving life sentences for their parent’s murder; however, new evidence surfaced recently which has created a stir and outcry for a resentencing review.

Menendez Brothers Resentencing – A Victim Has Come Forward

The Menendez Brothers had stated during their trial that they had been abused by their dad, but there wasn’t enough evidence to support this.

Thankfully, new information emerged when Roy Rossello, former Menudo singer, came forward to reveal that Jose Menendez had drugged and raped him as a teen.

This changed the game for Erik and Lyle Menendez, and it looks like after all this time, they might finally get some justice in their case.

The brothers have their fair share of support, thanks to the two documentaries on Netflix, but have also had family who have stood by their potential resentencing and release.

One person who has been vocal on this is their aunt, their mother’s sister, Joan VanderMolen, who told Vanity Fair recently that her nephews, “… didn’t deserve any of this. They were used and abused and there seems to be no end to it.”
