Lily-Rose Depp Congratulated Dad, Johnny Depp On His Success Amid Her Own Drama

Lily-Rose Depp and her father Johnny Depp do not shy away from controversial movie and television debuts. In fact, while Depp was receiving a standing ovation at the Cannes film festival two weeks ago, Lily-Rose had already received hers when a few episodes of her new TV show “The Idol” premiered.

However, the premiere of “The Idol” brought its own controversies as fans criticized its grim depiction and sexualization of Hollywood. But don’t worry, the Depps can certainly take any amount of heat.

Lily-Rose Depp Reacts to the Standing Ovation She Received For Her Work On the Idol

Johnny Depp received a lot of praise when his latest French-language movie “Jeanne Du Barry” opened at Cannes, but the one I feel he would be most proud of is the one coming from his daughter, Lily-Rose.

Following Depp’s big return to the spotlight, the 23-year-old gushed about her father’s fantastic 7-minute standing ovation, saying that she’s excited for him to be able to do projects he’s “proud of.”

Speaking on the reception she got for the premiere of her new TV show, “The Idol,” the star said, “It was the first time that I had watched it with an audience outside of like, myself and Sam and Ashley and Abel, which is just kind of how I watched the first couple episodes. But it was incredible.

It felt like such a beautiful celebration and a culmination of everything that we’ve been through together, and just kind of a beautiful process that was in the show, and creating this little family together, and it just felt really, really nice.”

Lily-Rose continued, “Especially to get to celebrate together, and we’re just so happy for the response from the room. It felt really nice to watch the reaction and everything, and finally get to share something with the world that we’re all so proud of.”

While there were those who praised the body of work, others viewed it as too sexual, toxic and told through a male gaze. Rumors also emerged that the working environment for stars and crew members was toxic.

However, Lily-Rose immediately set the rumors to rest, saying that they don’t reflect her experience.
