Lisa Kudrow Admits Meeting Friends’ Costars Jennifer Aniston And Courtney Cox Made Her Look At Her Body Differently

Lisa Kudrow has unfortunately had that experience that some, or most, of us have where we think we’re stunning in our body and we run into someone else that puts our ideas of our body to shame.

Needless to say, it was a “jarring” experience for the Friends’ alum and she worked to meet up with her new body image expectations.

Lisa Kudrow – Who Can Blame er?

Lisa Kudrow On “Jarring” Experience About Body Image

During an appearance on the Podcrushed podcast in August, Lisa Kudrow talked about how Aniston and Cox made her stepup her “skinny game”.

“I thought I was just really skinny. I can do whatever, [but] no, especially in high school. And I look at pictures and say, ‘Wow, pictures really distort reality,'” she said. “And it wasn’t until Friends that I realized, ‘Oh, I don’t look like I thought I looked.'”

“And that’s what was so jarring, and that’s when it was like, ‘Oh, I’ve got to actually lose weight? I have to diet? Shoot,'” Kudrow, 59, continued.

Speaking on why she felt like that, the “Friends” Alum said: “It was just seeing myself on the show and seeing myself in clothes and seeing Courteney and Jennifer in clothes.”

“And at first I thought, ‘Oh, because they know, like, tailoring, so they can discuss it with the costume designer about where, exactly, to take something in,” she added.

She stopped blaming “clothes” and “tailoring” for why her body and theirs is different when she invited one of her costars over for a dress fitting. “That’s when I would see, ‘Oh, okay, it’s not just about tailoring…’ And I’m not trying to say I was overweight, either. I was not. I just had no idea the shape of my actual body.”

Lisa Kudrow – On Being More Accepting Of Her Body As She Got Older

As the years passed by, Lisa Kudrow came to have a more improved outlook on her body image. She also learned to accept it for what it is.

“I just realized, ‘Oh no — it’s okay. This is just what I look like. That’s okay. Do what you need to do to be healthy but this is your body and it’s okay,'” she explained.

For ten years and across ten seasons, Lisa Kudrow played the beloved character Phoebe Buffay, alongside Aniston, 53, who played Rachel Green, and Cox, 58, as Monica Geller.
