Sean “Diddy” Combs spent this Christmas incarcerated at a New York prison after having three attempts at posting bail rejected by the court.
However, latest reports state that he’s just recently gained another high profile jail mate in the way of Luigi Mangione. The 26-year-old is a suspect in the murder of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
Sean “Diddy” Combs Could Eventually Share Same Floor With Murder Suspect Luigi Mangione
Diddy Combs and Luigi Mangione are currently being held in “separate floors” at the notorious Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York. However, it is expected that the duo will eventually end up on the same floors, per prison consultant Sam Mangel.
Mangione was arrested and arraigned in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on December 9, 2024. He is a suspect in the broad daylight murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, which took place on Dec. 4. Last week, he was extradited from Pennsylvania to face trial in New York.
He is facing charges for first-degree murder, including eleven state charges and four federal charges. These include first-degree murder, murder in furtherance of terrorism, criminal possession of a weapon, and stalking.
It is possible that he will be sentenced to a death penalty under the firearm charge, even though there’s no indication yet whether the authorities plan to pursue this course of action.
According to Mangel, Mangione is “still being held in observation, or in the Special Housing Unit (SHU).”
“Luigi has not been moved into general population yet, which is where Sean Combs is being held,” Mangel says, adding, “They will be held on a separate floor and, at some point, will be on the same floor together. But at this point they have not been placed on the same floor.”
As for Combs, the rapper was arrested on Sept. 16 following a months-long federal probe into his dealings. He is charged with sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution
Public Reaction To Both Sean “Diddy” Combs Arrest And Luigi Mangione’s Arrest
Sean “Diddy” Combs arrest was more or less agreeable to the general public, with many calling for justice to be served. This was heightened even more when a video of Diddy assaulting singer Cassie Ventura made its way online. In general, the public opinion is turned against Diddy.
In contrast, Mangione’s arrest made him a folk hero in the eyes of social media users, with the hashtag freeLuigi making the rounds on the internet.
This is mostly due to the often negative view held by the public that blame the health insurance industry of employing unfair claim denial practices that inflict harm.
