Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) is making waves on The Voice! The singer-songwriter, known for hits like Lonely Road and Bloody Valentine, is set to join Gwen Stefani’s team as her playoff advisor during the November 19th episode.
This collaboration promises fresh perspectives and plenty of artistic flair, with MGK offering valuable advice to contestants as they pursue their dreams.
A Sneak Peek of MGK’s Mentorship
In an exclusive clip, MGK is seen mentoring contestant Jake Tankersley. The 34-year-old rocker encouraged Jake to bring more personality to his performance, saying,
“You have a good smile, so maybe crack a smile on that and let people know they can be close to you. When you have any moment when there is no lyrics though, because there is so many words, step away from the mic and play your guitar.”
MGK further emphasized the importance of emotional connection in performances, adding,
“It’s all about the feel. You have a wife and kids, they bring the color to your life so it’s all feel.”
When Jake mentioned Johnny Cash as a style inspiration, MGK wholeheartedly supported the idea, advising him to channel that iconic image during the competition.
Gwen Stefani’s Thoughts On MGK
Gwen Stefani shared her excitement about working with MGK, describing him as bold and creative.
“He has such an identity as far as self-style and the way he puts himself out there with his artistry and creativity. He’s bold. He sees things from a fresh perspective,” she said.
For MGK, the admiration is mutual. “I’ve been so eager to work with Gwen in any capacity,” he revealed, expressing how much he values the platform The Voice provides for aspiring artists.
“Dream chasing is so cool. This is a great platform for people to come and present their talent,” he said. “And if anything, if they don’t walk away with the win, they still walk away with knowledge which is also a win,” he added.[

A Return To The Voice
This isn’t MGK’s first time on The Voice. In 2017, he performed with X Ambassadors and Bebe Rexha, delivering a memorable rendition of their song Home. Now, as a mentor, MGK hopes to inspire contestants while continuing to learn and grow himself.
“I still feel like so much of a student, so it’s hard to be in this role. But hopefully I added something,” he said humbly.
The Voice airs on NBC every Monday and Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET, with episodes available to stream on Peacock the following day. Catch MGK and Gwen Stefani in action as they guide their team toward victory!
