Madonna Says The Backlash That She’s Gotten Over Her Appearance Has Been ‘Degrading’

Madonna isn’t the kind of person who often responds to her critics, but it looks like she just couldn’t hold back on this one. The chart topper couldn’t help but admit that the backlash that she’s gotten over her appearance lately has felt degrading. Here’s what she has to say.

During the 2023 Grammy Awards, a lot of people couldn’t help but notice that Madonna has been looking quite different – or at least when it comes to her facial features. It didn’t take very long for Twitter to roast her with even Piers Morgan exclaiming that her look is so horrifying that it reminds him of a Halloween costume.

Madonna certainly heard all of the things that people have been saying about her and decided to take to her Instagram account to share her thoughts on the matter. She says that instead of talking about Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ “history-making performance,” people decided to focus on her looks instead.

She said, “Instead of focusing on what I said in my speech which was about giving thanks for the fearlessness of artists like Sam and Kim- Many people chose to only talk about Close-up photos of me Taken with a long lens camera By a press photographer that Would distort anyone’s face!!”

What’s Next For Madonna?

Madonna continued, “Once again I am caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny that permeates the world we live in. A world that refuses to celebrate women pass [sic] the age of 45 And feels the need to punish her If she continues to be strong-willed, hard-working, and adventurous.”

The Material Girl also said that while she’s never had to apologize for the decisions she’s made in the past, she’s certainly not going to start now.

Before quoting Beyonce’s Break My Soul, Madonna added, “I have been degraded by the media since the beginning of my career but I understand that this is all a test and I am happy to do the trailblazing so that all the women behind me can have an easier time in the years to come.”
