Madonna’s Son David Banda Says He’s ‘Scavenging’ For Food After Leaving Mother’s Home

David Banda has been talking about his life after leaving home, offering some surprisingly candid and funny insights.

On a recent Instagram Live, the Malawi-born teen revealed some intriguing details about his post-graduation existence and what life is like living independently.

Life After Madonna’s Home

David Banda, who graduated from high school last year, has been “scavenging” for food, he told listeners, apparently having a hard time transitioning to life on his own. Despite his mother’s estimated net worth of $850 million and her extensive real estate portfolio.

“It’s lovely to experience it being 9 o’clock at night, me being hungry and realizing that I don’t have enough money to get food, but we don’t have enough food in the house and scavenging,” he joked during the live session, going on to add: “It’s fun to be young!”

Banda presently resides in The Bronx with his girlfriend, model Maria Atuesta, who is 21 years old.

He offers guitar lessons that may be scheduled via his Instagram page. Banda, who has been playing guitar since he was a child, charges $200 for each lesson.

With more than 52k followers, his page on Instagram showcases his musical abilities while also offering a window into his personal life.

Support from Madonna

Despite the physical distance, Madonna has always been close and supportive of her son.

According to sources, the pop icon is always supportive and loving to her children. Madonna has six children: Lourdes, 27, Rocco, 23, Mercy James, 18, and twins Stella and Estere, 11, along with David Banda.

The Queen of Pop has had a rough time as of late, as she was hospitalized in June 2023 with a life-threatening form of bacterial infection.

She couldn’t help but speak out about her road to recovery, “A year ago today, I had just come home from the hospital after surviving a life-threatening illness. I could barely stand in my backyard holding one sparkler.” She expressed gratitude for her recovery and the amazing year that followed, stating, “Life is beautiful!”

Madonna’s Admiration For David

For decades, Madonna never failed to highlight her admiration for David’s talent and determination.

“What he has more than anything is focus and determination. I’m pretty sure he got it from me. He’s the one I have the most in common with. I feel like he gets me; he has more of my DNA than any of my children so far,” she told Vogue in 2019.

David’s journey from his mother’s mansion to his own – in one of the most expensive cities on Earth – is a testament to his grit and self-sufficiency.
