Matthew Perry, famed for his role on Friends, tragically died at just 54. And his final Instagram post eerily seemed to foreshadow what happened.

Matthew Perry – Foreshadows Death In Last Instagram Post

Friends star Matthew Perry shared on social media only a few days before he died at age 54. And his last Instagram post in some ways foreshadowed his death.

In Perry’s last post, the Friends star shared a pic in which he relaxed in a hot tub at night. And in his caption, Matthew wrote, “Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good? I’m Mattman,” noted People.

As for what the term Mattman means, Perry had begun using that name in his social media posts. And he opted for that reference as a nod to Batman. For instance, just before the hot tub pic, Matthew wrote, “Do you understand what I’m trying to tell you? – I’m Mattman.”

But then Perry also shared on social media, “Let’s make stigmas a stigma. -I’m Mattman #mentalhealth.” However, tragically, after posting these seemingly upbeat posts, including the one about enjoying relaxing in warm water, Matthew was found dead, reportedly from drowning, in a jacuzzi hot tub at his house.

Matthew Perry – Described Addiction Struggles

Law enforcement sources revealed that those responding to Perry’s death did not find any drugs at the scene. And sources also shared that law enforcement did not suspect foul play.

But in his memoir Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, the Friends star described his battle with addiction. For instance, he described how he almost died at age 49.

And even as Matthew received applause for his role as Chandler Bing on Friends, he struggled with addiction. Amid writing his book, he revealed, “I wanted to share when I was safe from going into the dark side of everything again. I had to wait until I was pretty safely sober — and away from the active disease of alcoholism and addiction — to write it all down. And the main thing was, I was pretty certain that it would help people,” explained Perry.

Soon after Perry’s death, his family arrived at the Friends star’s home. His mother Suzanne Morrison, his father John Bennett Perry and his stepfather, Dateline correspondent Keith Morrison, looked heartbroken as they walked up to the house, reported TMZ.

Matthew’s parents divorced in his youth. And in 1981, his mother married Keith Morrison. However, the Friends star stayed in contact with his biological father. And John also starred in an episode of Friends.
