Good Morning America (GMA) anchor Michael Strahan had turned his thoughts towards retirement. The news arrived after his daughter Isabella Strahan fought so hard against her medulloblastoma brain tumor and was declared cancer-free.
Michael Strahan Sees Precious Years Fly By
In 2022, the GMA anchor explained that he felt some mixed emotions about his twins, Sophia and Isabella Strahan getting ready to go to college. The years had flown by and while he felt proud of them, he also felt sad because his little girls were all grown up.
Michael Strahan went from being sad about the childhood years having flown by, to being shattered. Out of the blue, he got the call that Isabella Strahan had been diagnosed with a brain tumor. For the next three weeks, GMA fans didn’t see him on their screens. Back then, some people thought that perhaps he was considering retirement.
Retirement After Isabella Strahan’s Cancer?
Recently, we reported that the GMA anchor and Isabella had talked with Town and Country Magazine. At the time, they both discussed her battle with cancer. During the conversation, he described how deeply he feared that his daughter might pass away. Actually, he still has such thoughts that haunt him.
In the same conversation with the outlet, GMA fans learned that retirement is on Michael Strahan’s mind. But you needn’t fear that he intends to leave just yet. He explained:
I’m not planning on retiring anytime soon. I will at some point, and I’d like to say a lot sooner than a lot of people probably think I will. When I do it, it will be because I just want to have the freedom to be with [Isabella] and her sister, and her other sister and brother. Wherever they are, whatever they’re doing, I want to be there.
Before discussing his retirement plans, Michael Strahan described how much he loves the idea of Isabella Strahan being back at college again. In fact, even being an “empty nester” feels pretty good right now. But, he does miss all the banter and fun that goes on in his home when the kids are around.
He added, “I have loved having the energy and noise and arguing around the house, but I’m just so happy for Isabella to get back to college. I want her to have that sense of independence again because my kids can’t grow if they’re under my shade.”
