Millie Bobby Brown is making big waves since she first caught the attention of the world playing Eleven on Netflix’s “Stranger Things” at the young age of ten.
The producer, actor and businesswoman is expanding her empire with the launch of her first fashion line, in partnership with Delta Galil USA.
At 19, soon to be 20, this girl is leaving no stones unturned in her hunger to keep growing. If I had half her drive, I’d be doing a lot better than I am right now.
Millie Bobby Brown Opens Up About Motivation To Launch A Fashion Line For Those Whose Styles Aren’t Defined
At 26, I’m not going to lie to you, I don’t know what my style is. I see my friends and I get a sense of the type of clothes any of them would rock, and I feel like they wouldn’t be able to understand mine. I’m just all over the place when it comes to picking clothes for myself.
One day I’m all shiny and the next day I’m all black. Turns out Brown wanted this brand to be for people like me who can’t quite stick their finger in what their personal style is.
“[When Stranger Things took off,] I was 10. I was going to these events and ceremonies, and all these big fashion brands wanted to style me. I didn’t know what my personal style was, and the only time I got dressed, other than for ceremonies, was to go to work. As I got older, I was like, “What is my personal style?” A lot of my friends already knew [their styles], but I didn’t know mine,”
She told Elle in an exclusive interview. “For me, fashion has always been ever-evolving. It’s fluid, and I wanted to create something so that girls going through that similar experience have a resource to be able to try innovative new outfits and styles and phases.
I wanted to be able to create something that was accessible to my generation, to my demographic so that when they go into a store, they feel like they have that one corner—even if it’s a corner in the back—that they have what they’re looking for, and they’re able to afford it.”
However, she’s sort of found her fashion sense; “I’m into boho vibe.” In fact, she loves loose-fitting clothes so much she’s decided to make boxer shorts for girls, because we need that comfort too don’t we?
Comfort is actually the driving theme around this collection, with Brown confessing, “I want people to feel like they’re wearing pajamas, but they’re able to go outside. That’s what I like. I want to wear pajamas to work.”
Millie Bobby Brown Says Inclusivity Is At the Heart Of Her Brand
Another thing that Brown insisted on when launching the line was inclusivity. “If one person can’t wear it, I’m not interested in making it. It needs to be for everyone. I went into that mindset with makeup and skin care, and that brand value did not change when we [went] into apparel. And we stuck to that in every meeting.
I made sure we could go the biggest size we could,” she said, adding, “I made sure we were using stretch materials, things that are better for girls to wear in regard to whatever they’re doing. If it’s that time of the month—this is my big thing—if I’m on my period, I’m not going to wear something skintight to my body.”
