More Details On The Jeremy Renner New Year Accident

Let’s just say that this New Year is not off to a great start for Jeremy Renner.  The tragic accident happened as Renner was getting his good person points in, and he was speedily airlifted to a hospital to receive emergency treatment.

Local Authorities Open Up About Actor Jeremy Renner’s “Tragic Accident”

In a Tuesday press conference, Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam shared more details about the “Avengers” star’s accident, which saw him get crushed by an “extremely large piece of snow-removal equipment” as he was clearing snow on New Year’s Day.

Renner, 51, was reportedly helping a relative get a “stuck” vehicle out of the estimated 3 feet of snowfall from the night before.

“Mr. Renner went to retrieve his PistenBully, or snowcat — an extremely large piece of snow-removal equipment weighing at least 14,330 pounds — in an effort to get his vehicle moving. After successfully towing his personal vehicle from its stuck location, Mr. Renner got out of his PistenBully to speak to his family member,” said Balaam.

“At this point, it is observed that the PistenBully started to roll. In an effort to stop the rolling PistenBully, Mr. Renner attempts to get back into the driver’s seat of the PistenBully. Based on our investigation, it’s at this point that Mr. Renner is run over by the PistenBully.”

Explaining the situation, Renner pointed out that the investigation proves that Mr. Renner was not “impaired at all”.

“The investigation is ongoing, however, we do not suspect any foul play. I’ll repeat that: We do not suspect any foul play. We believe this was a tragic accident.”

At the moment, the sheriff’s department is in possession of the “Hawkeye” actor’s Pistenbully, as they try to figure out if “any potential mechanical failure” caused the vehicle to roll.

Balaam also clarifies that this is a normal process for any of their investigations.

Following the tragic accident, Renner thanked fans for their well-wishes from the hospital. However, he did add that he’s “too messed up now.”

He sustained blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries in the accident and had to undergo surgery on Monday.
