New Show ‘King Charles’ Coming To CNN, Hosted by Gayle King and Charles Barkley

A brand new show “King Charles” is coming to CNN, and it will be hosted by Gayle King and Charles Barkley. According to Gayle, it will be about uplifting people of different cultures and races, without tearing anyone down.

Gayle King And Charles Barkley Team Up For New Weekly Primetime Show

CNN has found their next perfect duo for a show set to take up an hour slot on the schedule of the global news network. The news was confirmed on Saturday, April 22, with King promising to deliver a show that offers “a good conversation without tearing other people down.”

Following the show’s announcement, network CEO Chris Licht called the announcement “thrilling” in a memo to staff as he discussed plans to have the show launch this fall.

“This show will be an exciting new way we are delivering culturally relevant programming and unique perspectives to our audience, from two incredibly dynamic personalities,” Licht said in the memo. “We are excited that they are both able to join us in addition to their current respective roles, with Gayle continuing to anchor CBS Mornings.”

He added, “King Charles exemplifies the one-team, one-company mentality, with Charles playing double duty at CNN and in his role at WBD Sports.”

Gayle King also shared the values she wants to bring on the show, which she says will definitely include having a good conversation that won’t make anyone feel small.

The host of the SiriusXM podcast “Gayle King in the House” also revealed that she didn’t take the gig because she was looking for another job.

Speaking on the program, Barkley, 60, said: “We don’t want to say, ‘We’re a liberal, conservative, Republican, Democrat’ — that’s one of the things that’s already ruined television in general.”
