Nick Jonas exits ‘The Voice,’ paving the way to the Grammy-award-winning sweetheart, Ariana Grande.
The 27-year-old star revealed her major role in the show as a full-time coach this fall through her social media post. She wrote, “Surprise !!! i am beyond thrilled, honored, excited to be joining @kellyclarkson @johnlegend @blakeshelton next season ~ season 21 of @nbcthevoice!” Grande wrote alongside a photo of herself in the iconic red chair. “@nickjonas we will miss you.”
The pop star feels honored and excited to join the family, as she has been a huge fan of The Voice for a long time, she claims. “I can’t wait to go head-to-head with the incredible coaches, get to know these new artists, and help to take their craft to the next level,” said Grande through NBCU.
Jenny Groom, Executive Vice President of Unscripted Content for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, said via NBCU that they were thrilled to learn about Grande’s admiration of the show. “This enthusiasm will add to her impact as a dynamic coach. Ariana is a visionary with over a decade of experience in the music industry. Her unmatched vocal skills, creativity, and unique expertise on all facets of the industry will make her an invaluable coach to the next generation of artists,” Groom added.
“Thank You, Next”
Meanwhile, minutes after Grande posted, Nick Jonas welcomed his successor to the family through Twitter. The Jonas Brothers band member wrote in the post, “Congrats @ArianaGrande! You’re going to kill it next season! Welcome to the family 😎”
The 28-year-old singer is walking away from the show yet again. Nick first exited ahead of Season 19, giving up his role to Gwen Estafani, and has rejoined the show just this past spring. Fans are a bit more upset about him saying goodbye the second time. Nick has not also revealed the reasons for his exit.

The New ‘The Voice’ Leads On Top
Amidst adapting to the new normal NBC’s two-day Season 20 debut of ‘The Voice’ tops other programs leading the prime-time ratings for consecutive days. The reality singing competition series, affected by the pandemic, had just celebrated its 10-year-anniversary on air with its 20th season. Following health protocols, the show opted to accept early auditions through taped submissions and via Zoom instead of roadshows. No live audience is allowed as people are limited on set, with the families cheering on their contestants virtually.
