Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond, Shares Her Experience Starring In Her Very First Movie

Rae Drummond,Pioneer Woman Rae Drummond is venturing into a brand new field of work and she can’t help but be “nervous” during her first day on set. But not as she should have been, because at 52, Rae has crossed the age where you’re afraid of making a complete fool of yourself, or so she says.

But don’t worry, the Pioneer Woman hasn’t strayed far from her delicious roots, as the movie promises lots to be “sweetly” excited about. Doubt me? Check out the name: “Candy Coated Christmas”.

Rae Drummond Shares Pictures From Her First Day On The Set Of Candy Coated Christmas

The cooking show host and cookbook writer shared pictures from the set of her first movie.

In one of the pictures, we see the redhead wearing a white winter coat and a red scarf as she delivers baked goodies with a bright smile on her face. Another of the pictures sees her behind the counter of her bakery shop.

She used the caption to share details about her first day filming the upcoming Christmas movie. “Oh, hi! This is me filming my first scene in an upcoming Christmas movie.”

“Look at those tightly locked knees,” she joked, “I was certain I was gonna wind up fainting like those bridesmaids/groomsmen we used to see fall over on America’s Funniest Home Videos.”

She added that she felt “nervous” while on set “because I am not an actor and being on a movie set in Utah was a whole different experience than filming a cooking show in my own kitchen.”

“Fortunately, once a woman hits her fifties, the possibility of embarrassing herself really doesn’t keep her from doing anything in life.”

It also helped that she’s kinda familiar with the world she’s strode into, because, even though she hasn’t acted in a scripted show before, she does know a lot about baked goodies and cameras.

“Here are some behind the scenes shots of my first (and probably last!!!) acting gig. “Candy Coated Christmas” is coming in November!” the television personality added.

Candy Coated Christmas Details

The movie marks the Food Network’s very first scripted holiday film. It is set to premiere later this year on Discovery+.

The movie will explore the story of an uptight marketing executive named Molly who moves to the small town where her deceased mother grew up in after financing for her latest business venture fell through.

Drummond’s character becomes Molly’s first friend in the small hamlet of Peppermint Hollow.

As for venturing into starring in the Food Network’s scripted show, it’s not exactly surprising or out of the way for the Pioneer Woman, who has filmed 15 seasons of her cooking show with no plans of stopping anytime soon. The show gradually even turned into a family affair.

When the pandemic shut down filming, the Pioneer Woman television show was affected along with many others. To keep the show going, Rae Drummond enlisted the help of her family in filming the show.

Drummond’s eldest daughter explained how they were called to pitch in to keep the show running, “My mom texted us and was like, ‘Can you guys help me film the show?'” she said. ‘And we were like, ‘What do you mean?’ We were very confused.”

The family has continued to help their mom make the show, despite the COVID-19 restrictions lifting.

Drummond has five children: daughter Alex, 24, daughter Paige, 21, foster son Jamar, 18, son Bryce, 18, and son Todd, 17. She got married to her husband, Ladd, in 1996.
