According to reports from La Nacion and other reliable sources, Argentine authorities are scrutinizing Payne’s final hours, his missing designer Rolex, and three suspects under investigation for their roles surrounding his death.
The Missing Rolex Mystery
On the day of his death, Payne was seen wearing a yellow-gold Rolex Day-Date 40, retailing at $40,100, with a champagne-colored dial.
CCTV footage and photos captured Payne wearing the watch just hours before he fell from his third-floor hotel balcony in Buenos Aires.
Yet, when police inspected his body and hotel room at CasaSur Palermo, the watch was nowhere to be found. Multiple raids on nine properties connected to those involved have similarly failed to locate the timepiece.
A police source revealed, “We know, from images that were analyzed, that Payne was wearing a Rolex on the day of his death.”

Law enforcement initially focused their search on the homes of individuals accused of abandoning him, facilitating narcotics, and the two female escorts who had been with him that afternoon.
However, as the investigation progresses, authorities plan a second inspection of his hotel room in case the watch was overlooked during the first search.
Details Of the Investigation and Suspects
The tragic fall, which occurred around 5 pm local time on October 16, has led authorities to question more than 20 witnesses and review over 800 hours of security footage.
Prosecutors clarified that Payne did not appear to commit suicide, ruling out “self-harm” after a forensic psychiatric evaluation.

Instead, they concluded that he was in a semi-conscious state due to a combination of substances, including cocaine, alcohol, and traces of antidepressants.
The police have charged three individuals: a close associate of Payne’s, a hotel employee, and a drug dealer.
Prosecutors allege that the employee provided Payne with cocaine on two occasions, while the dealer is accused of two separate cocaine transactions with him during his stay.
One of the suspects, Rogelio ‘Roger’ Nores, a close friend of Payne’s, has publicly denied any wrongdoing, stating, “I never abandoned Liam… He was just my very dear friend.”
Nores added that he had been with Payne multiple times that day and had only left the hotel 40 minutes before the incident.
Family Mourning And Final Farewell
The singer’s body was flown back to the UK, accompanied by his father Geoff Payne, who had traveled to Argentina immediately following his son’s death.
The family plans to hold a private funeral in Payne’s hometown of Wolverhampton, in the West Midlands, allowing them a chance to grieve away from the public eye while respecting the global interest in Liam’s legacy.
His girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, expressed her sorrow and shared their future plans to marry, referring to him as her “guardian angel now” in an emotional tribute.
