Reba McEntire Gets To Headline A New Sitcom A Decade After Dominating TV As A Leading Lady

After multiple calls and pleas to bring back “Reba” from both fans, Reba McEntire herself and her co-stars, NBCUniversal has listened. What do we have? A “Reba” reboot and a solid plotline to boot.

NBCUniversal Shares Plotline For Reba McEntire’s Upcoming Sitcom

Reba McEntire, 68, will be returning to the small screen over a decade after she played her last leading role in ABC’s “Malibu Country.” The country star is set to helm an untitled pilot for a multi-camera sitcom.

On Monday, NBCUniversal teased details of this sitcom. “Reba inherits her father’s restaurant and is less than thrilled to discover that she has a new business partner in the half-sister she never knew she had,” the logline reads.

Reba will not only be playing the leading role in the series, but will executive produce alongside her former Reba EPs Kevin Abbott, Michael Hanel and Mindy Schultheis. Julie Abbott is listed as an executive producer for the project.

At this time, it’s yet to be confirmed whether the entire series has been greenlit or even when the pilot can start filming. But one thing’s for sure, the comedy show will at least be given the chance to impress and engage a sizable audience.

In the years following the conclusion of the original series, Reba has been vocal about her hopes to have the show return.

In a July 2022 chat on The Bobby Jones Show, the singer and actress revealed that she’s been making moves to bring back the show.

“We’ve really been trying hard to do a reboot of the Reba show,” she confessed. “I really want to work with the people that I got to work with during that six and a half years.”

She also spoke highly of the cast, which included Christopher Rich as Reba’s ex-husband Brock Enroll Hart.

“It was fun, the cast the crew everybody we got to work with and play with, they were wonderful people,” she said. “We wanted to get back together like a reunion and have fun, so hopefully that will happen one day.”

Fortunately, she isn’t the only cast member looking forward to returning for a reboot, as JoAnna Garcia Swisher spoke highly of working with Reba again on the show during her 2022 interview on The Art of Kindness podcast.
