Ree Drummond will act as a taste tester for her daughter’s wedding menu and make sure everything lives up to her strict delicious standards.

Pioneer Woman Tastes Every Food For Her Daughter’s Big Day

If there’s one thing that Ree Drummond, Pioneer Woman star, knows, it is food and she is using her unique powers to make sure that the food aspect of her daughter’s wedding will be perfect.

During an Instagram Live Q&A for The Pioneer Woman Magazine, Alex shared that her mother has been acting as the food police and has been given free reign of the menu for her nuptials that will take place at their Oklahoma ranch on Saturday.

“My mom has kind of been the mastermind behind the wedding menu honestly,” Alex, 23, said. “I haven’t even tasted the food. My mom tasted it all for us.”

Ree, 52, then hopped on to add that her daughter “rightly said that I love food more than anyone she knows so she trusts me.”  The menu for the occasion will be catered by the Food Network star’s restaurant, the Mercantile.

Ree Drummond chose a classic main course of beef tenderloin filet, charred vegetables, peppers and asparagus, and mashed potatoes as one of the side dishes.

Ree confirmed that she’s obsessed with picking a variety of dipping sauces to accompany the beef: “There are a lot of men in Osage County who firmly believe that you should never put steak sauce on a steak so we have a cute little dish with three little sauce containers and three little sauces so guests can decorate their plate and add whichever ones they want.”

Macaroni and cheese with caramelized onions and seven cheeses will be the eye-catcher of the side dishes. According to Alex, the two processed cheeses that will attend the occasion with the side dishes are to make it “dreamy and creamy.”

There will also be Fontina, goat cheese, mozzarella, sharp cheddar, and Parmesan.

“It’s actually cheese with a little macaroni added,” Ree shares, with Alex looking surprised at the list of ingredients.

Ree Drummond Talks Double Flavors And Double Cakes

While Alex may not have contributed much to planning the menu for her wedding, the dessert planning certainly commanded her attention. Guests will get the chance to enjoy two wedding cakes made by Amy Cakes in Oklahoma City. The first will be a more traditional cake, with several layers featuring half vanilla cake and half strawberry with icing and florals.

“We decided to go with vanilla cake with vanilla icing,” Alex says. “I know it’s so basic, but it’s definitely my favorite.”

The second cake, the groom’s cake, made for her soon-to-be husband, is all chocolate (her dad’s favorite) and will bear the looks of a football jersey. Half of the cake is dedicated to Texas A&M and the other half to the Pittsburgh Steelers, which are Scott’s favorite teams.

As for the late-night snack, there will be tacos along with the groom’s only culinary request for the wedding, a churro bar.

Additional Pioneer Woman Wedding Details

A day before the wedding, on Friday night, the couple will have a rehearsal dinner hosted by Mauricio’s father and it will be “fiesta-themed” and feature traditional Mexican fare.

Alex then spoke about her color code for her wedding, white and pink, in case you were wondering, and the bilingual band that will perform at the wedding ceremony is a move to honor Mauricio’s Mexican heritage.

Alex’s mother, Ree, then shared her fears of the possibility of high winds disrupting the outdoor wedding. Alex chose to be optimistic saying that the weather appears good so far, and all she’s expecting is a mild wind, “but we can’t really get around that in Oklahoma,” she added.

The bride-to-be later shared updates of her father’s health. Ladd, Alex’s father, broke his neck in early March in an accident that occurred on the farm.

“Dad is going in for a checkup on Thursday and if everything looks good he can take [his neck brace] off to walk me down the aisle,” she revealed.
