After some months of gruelling, and no doubt awkward, arguments and legal filings, Lisa Marie Presley’s family has finally come to an agreement over the late singer’s impressive estate.
Her sole trustee and eldest daughter Riley Keough will be inheriting the Elvis Presley estate that’s become the stuff of legends.
Riley Keough Becomes Sole Heir of Late Mother’s Estate
Can you believe this trust battle that’s now come to a happy conclusion started brewing very shortly after Lisa Marie passed away in January at the age of 54? Yep, that’s how serious it was.
For months, Priscilla Presley, Lisa Marie’s mother, refused to back down and accept that Riley is the only one capable of being a trustee, as stated in her mother’s will – Riley Keough’s brother Benjamin Keough died at age 27.
At one point, Lisa Marie had included Priscilla as one of her trustees, but apparently changed her mind and removed her. Lisa Marie also has twin daughters, Harper and Finley Lockwood, from her second marriage.
A Los Angeles Judge Has Officially Approved Riley Keough To Become The Sole Heir Of Her Late Mother’s Estate.
This means that Riley has become the owner of Elvis Presley’s Tenn. Graceland, which Lisa Marie inherited following the legendary singer’s passing in 1977.
This spells the end to the legal dispute over Lisa Marie’s will, which Priscilla Presley, Elvis Presley’s ex-wife, contested in the days following Lisa Marie’s death.
At the time, Priscilla claimed that Lisa Marie’s signature on the updated will was forged, adding that even if it isn’t, it shouldn’t be upheld because she wasn’t made aware of the change.
Her filing raised some eyebrows and gave birth to much speculations about her relationship with her grandchildren, which she immediately put a stop to, writing in a statement: “I loved Elvis very much as he loved me. Lisa is a result of our love. For anyone to think anything differently would be a travesty of the family legacy and would be disrespectful of what Elvis left behind in his life.”
However, in May, Riley Keough, Priscilla Presley, and Michael Lockwood, Harper and Finley’s father, quietly settled the matter, with Riley being named the beneficiary of Lisa Marie’s estate. The deal agreed upon was said to make everyone “happy.”
“Everyone is happy, unified, together and excited for the future,” Priscilla’s attorney told CNN.
