American actress and activist Rose McGowan recently unleashed a scathing attack on talk show host Oprah Winfrey for supporting bad people all for the sake of financial gain. Following Oprah’s resurfaced clip where she was accused of trying to body shame country legend Dolly Parton, the early #MeToo activist who accused Weinstein of raping her, hit back at Oprah on Twitter.
Rose McGowan Draws Attention Back To Oprah’s Previous Relationship with Convicted Rapist Weinstein
The Doom Generation actress, 47, took to Twitter to call out Oprah’s “ugly truth”.
She shared a picture of Oprah Winfrey kissing Harvey Weinstein on the cheek, captioning the picture: “I am glad more are seeing the ugly truth of Oprah.”
“I wish she were real, but she isn’t. From being pals with Weinstein to abandoning and destroying Russell Simmons’ victims, she is about supporting a sick power structure for personal gain, she is as fake as they come.”
She later went on to share another post, tagging Oprah as an “evil creep”.
Winfrey has previously spoken up about her close friendship with Weinstein, who is currently serving a 23-year prison sentence for two rape convictions.
At the time, Oprah claimed not to know anything about the allegations made against Weinstein, but admitted that she aware that he was a “bully”.
Oprah said: “What I knew about Harvey was that Harvey was a bully and that if Harvey is on the phone, you didn’t want to take the call because you are going to get bullied in some way.”
Weinstein has been found guilty on two convictions: third degree rape and criminal sexual act in the first degree. He also currently faces additional charges of sexual assault in a Los Angeles court, for which he has pleaded not guilty.
Why Oprah Winfrey Chose To Step Away From Project That Highlights The Stories Of Sex Victims
Music mogul Russell Simmons has been accused of more than a dozen sexual misconducts since 2017. In some instances, he has admitted “inappropriate conduct”, but has disputed the claims of non-consensual sexual interactions.
In January 2020, Oprah Winfrey announced that she would not be continuing as the executive producer of a documentary that highlights the stories of Simmons’ accusers.

Explaining her decision to step down, Oprah said in a statement: “There is more work to be done on the film to illuminate the full scope of what the victims endured, and it has become clear that the filmmakers and I are not aligned in that creative vision.”
She also told The Hollywood Reporter about her decision to discontinue with the project, adding: “I want it to be known that I unequivocally believe and support the women. Their stories deserve to be told and heard.”
