Rosie O’Donnell has posted heartbreaking remarks about her eldest daughter Chelsea’s recent legal difficulties, which include charges of child negligence and drug possession in Wisconsin.
The 62-year-old comedian took to Instagram on October 19 to highlight her family’s continuous problems, writing, “This is not new for our family.” On October 21, she thanked followers for their support, saying on TikTok that she much appreciated the “kind words and wishes” for Chelsea.
Reflecting on Their Struggles And Jail Records
Reflecting on public figures and their families’ struggles, Rosie remarked, “I think it’s hard to be a public person sometimes, and it’s hard for the children of those public people. But, you know, it is what it is in the culture today. And here we are.”
She went on to thank those who shared similar personal experiences with loved ones, which made her feel “less alone.” She also mentioned attending the Joni Jam concert at the Hollywood Bowl, calling it “exactly what my soul needed.”
Chelsea, now 27, was adopted by Rosie and her ex-wife Kelli Carpenter when she was a baby. As a mother of four, Chelsea faces a series of felony charges.
According to PEOPLE, she was initially seized on September 10 and later freed on a $2,000 bond before being arrested again on October 11 in Oconto County, where she is now jailed.
Her most recent accusations include possession of methamphetamine and narcotic substances, child maltreatment, and bail jumping, as well as multiple misdemeanor offenses like possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.
Voicing Hope on Social Media
In Rosie’s October 19 Instagram post, she shared a photo of Chelsea with one of her children, adding, “This is a photo from a better time.” She also voiced her enduring hope, saying, “Chelsea has struggled with drug addiction for a decade – we r all hopeful she will find her way out of this deadly disease .”
Given Chelsea’s prior struggles, including a well-publicized episode in 2015 when she ran away as a teenager and ultimately reconciled with her real mother in Wisconsin, the current predicament has drawn increased public attention. In Marinette and Oconto counties, the court dates are November 4 and November 7, respectively.
Notwithstanding the difficulties, Rosie thanked her followers and the community, highlighting how reassuring their support has been throughout this trying time.
