Sam Asghari Finally Speaks Out On His Divorce From Britney Spears

The news of the “Oops! I Did It Again” Singer Britney Spears’ marriage to the American model Sam Asghari made heavy rounds two years ago when they tied the knot in June 2022.

Back then there were several hot takes about their marriage especially because of the age gap between them. There were speculations that the couple wouldn’t last, and also rumors that Sam married Britney for her money.

The two began dating in 2017 before walking down the aisle in 2022. Anyway, come August of the following year 2023, the now 30-year-old actor released a statement on Instagram telling his fans and the media that he and the “Baby One More Time” singer, 42 have chosen to lead their lives separately, and went on to plead with the media and the public to “Kind.”

Sam’s statement which was shared in a black and white background, and written in all caps read, “AFTER 6 YEARS OF LOVE AND COMMITMENT TO EACH OTHER, MY WIFE AND I HAVE DECIDED TO END OUR JOURNEY TOGETHER. WE WILL HOLD UNTO THE LOVE AND RESPECT WE HAVE FOR EACH OTHER AND I WISH HER THE BEST ALWAYS.” The post continued, “SHIT HAPPENS, ASKING FOR PRIVACY SEEMS RIDICULOUS SO I WILL JUST ASK FOR EVERYONE INCLUDING MEDIA TO BE KIND AND THOUGHTFUL.”

Since his public confirmation of his divorce from the pop singer, Sam has been mum on the reason behind the divorce or how he’s been faring since his divorce.

However, during a recent interview with PEOPLE, the “Black Monday” actor told the outlet that he’s not one to berate his former spouse just because things didn’t work out between them.

According to him, “It was a blessing to be able to share life with someone for a long time. And people grow apart and people move on,” he went on to say that he, “Always hated people leaving a certain relationship — and at some point they told each other they love each other and they sat at the same table and ate food [together] — so I never understood when people part ways [and] they talk badly about each other.”

He stressed that even if everyone does it, he will not be one of those people “That’s something I’m never going to do because I had nothing but an amazing experience and a great life, and that’s always going to be part of my life, a chapter of my life.”
