“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” actress Sarah Michelle Gellar returns to the screen as she lands a starring role in the upcoming YA comedy titled “Hot Pink,” which is set to air on Amazon. However, there’s no news yet as to what character she’s playing.

Sarah Michelle Gellar – A “Biting Coming-of-Age Comedy” Series

The series, which was loosely based on Elana K. Arnold’s book “What Girls Are Made Of,” revolves around the story of the 16-year old Nina Faye. Raised to believe that unconditional love doesn’t exist, the character will do anything to prove that she’s worthy of her boyfriend. Nina gets her heartbroken when her boyfriend leaves her. That’s when she discovers the true conditions or real love.

The pilot, which is described as a “biting coming-of-age comedy,” is the latest adult series to join Amazon. Amazon has been expanding its YA slate. Aside from the new series, “Hot Pink,” it has an upcoming drama titled “Panic.” Plus, its YA drama “The Wilds” is set to return for a second season.

Sarah Michelle Gellar – Still In Early Stages of Development

“Hot Pink” is still in the early stages of development and there’s no word as to who Gellar will be playing. However, she landed a starring role, which would probably be the mom of the main character. Aside from that, no other details have been released regarding how many episodes it will have, who the other cast members are, and when the series will be released. For now, fans just have to stay tuned for more updates.

Amazon Studios and Annapurna, will produce “Hot Pink.” The new series is created and executive produced by “Obvious Child” writer Elisabeth Holm with the pilot episode to be directed and executive produced by Desiree Akhavan. Other executive producers include Rebecca Green, as well as Annapurna’s Sue Naegle and Ali Krug.

She’s also one of the voice actors in Disney XD’s “Star Wars: Rebels” and Netflix’s upcoming “Masters of the Universe: Revelation.”
