The subtle JLo’s engagement tease moment took place during Sunday Night Baseball broadcast on ESPN 2. Sports broadcaster Michael Kay was discussing the Yankees vs. Red Sox game with Rodriguez, when he slightly hinted at the engagement news. “It’s a great time in sports,” Kay, 61, said on Sunday, April 10. “You have a new Masters champion, NBA playoffs are about to start, baseball is in full swing, people getting engaged. I mean, it’s a happy time in the world.”

To this, Alex broke into laughter, only to reply, “Happiness and world peace is what we’re looking for.” After a few seconds of silence, the former baseball player promptly changed focus back to the game.

This is coming after Lopez, 52, confirmed her engagement with Ben Affleck on Friday, April 8. The video shows the singer and actress showing off her massive green ring via her “On the J.Lo” newsletter, which featured her whispering the words “You’re perfect”.

Before the “Marry Me” actress reconciled with Affleck, who she was once engaged to back in 2002, she dated Alex Rodriguez starting from 2017. The pair got engaged two years later and would have tied the knot in 2020 but for the coronavirus pandemic. Rumors of their breakup began swirling in early 2021, and in March, they denied breaking up.

A month later, the pair released a joint statement to confirm that they’ve decided to go their separate ways.

“We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so,” they said in a joint statement to Today in April 2021. “We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support.”

Later that month, media outlets pictured Lopez spending time with Affleck. In May, sources close to the couple confirmed that they were “full-on dating” again.
