This is something we have seen the most-followed woman on Instagram do in previous times. The 31-year-old Rare Beauty founder spoke about her journey to improving her mental health in her third annual Rare Beauty Mental Health Summit, which was held in New York City on May 1st.

In a May 2 discussion with Hoda Kotb from Today and U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy, the “Only Murders in the Building” star revealed, “I disabled all my comments on my photos on Instagram for only my friends. So I think I’ve created boundaries to help me.”

She further talked about the fuss it’s been causing on the internet. “Obviously people fussed about it. They fuss about everything,” she added.

The “Love On” singer further emphasized that she felt “empowered by doing that,” she added, “by saying, ‘This is just for me.’”

Over the years, Selena Gomez has stressed the importance of keeping positive people in her circle, which includes her boyfriend Benny Blanco. She further stresses, “It’s all about, at the end of the day, for me, owning my power,” she said. “And I am who I surround myself with.”

The Disney Channel alum then briefly opened up about her relationship with music producer Benny Blanco. Speaking of their romance, she said, “It feels wonderful. He’s wonderful.”

Gomez’s recent statement slaps a stamp to Blanco’s expression on the Today show in late December 2023, where he told Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager he can’t believe his relationship with Selena Gomez is real.

The ‘Open Wide’ cookbook author went on to say “I wake up every day and I look in the mirror and I’m like, ‘How did this happen?’”

“Look at me, the only way I got where I am is cooking food. … That’s the best first date in the world. … How can anyone not love you if you’re making them a huge stake with potatoes and salad?” he added.

Benny Blanco also recently expressed his support on Instagram for Gomez’s videos and photos. He said, “i’m so proud of u bb, u inspire me.”

For Years Now, Selena Gomez Has Been Big On Mental Health

Gomez’s firsthand experience with bipolar disorder and the autoimmune disease lupus has made her invested in being an advocate for mental health.

To support this, Rare Beauty has been made to donate 1% of its annual sales to the Rare Impact Fund since September 2020. At the just-passed summit, Selena Gomez and U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murth celebrated the Rare Impact Fund’s success in raising $7 million for the beauty company’s charitable partners over the past years.

This benevolent donation is focused on providing kids and teenagers with suicide prevention efforts, wellness resources, and more. Plus, it is meant to expand mental health services in underserved communities.

Meanwhile, at the ongoing event, Gomez emphasized, “I will always be working on my mental health, and I will always evolve,” she added, “I’m not better or worse than anyone. I’m simply just a person living and surviving every day.”

While sharing pictures from the Rare Beauty Mental Health Submit, the “Kill ’em with Kindness” singer said in her Instagram Caption, “Our 3rd annual @rarebeauty Mental Health Summit has me leaving inspired by the next generation, filled with so much hope, and grateful to each of you for being on this meaningful journey with us.”

She adds, “Mental health means so much to me and I’m honored we get to share this mission with the world together.”
