Selena Gomez Squashes Every Miley Cyrus Feud Rumors With An Announcement 

Since the early 2000s, the “Wrecking Ball” singer Miley Cyrus, and the “Kill Me With Kindness” singer Selena Gomez have been sparking feud rumors.

Although the Disney stars have tried their best to show their fans that there’s no beef whatsoever between them, the rumors never really went away.  

Selena Gomez — On Selena And Miley’s Supposed “Feud”

The thing is, the genesis of the alleged feud is not known, it can be said that the rumors of the so-called feud began after Selena starred as Mikayla, Miley’s rival in the Disney Channel television series Hannah Montana 2006-2011. 

In the 2007 series in which Mikayla appeared, Mikayla and Hannah were to do a fundraising telethon together when Mikayla replied to Hannah’s “What would you like to give?” question with, “I’d like to give you singing lessons. Just heard your new single—ouch.”

After the back-and-forth exchange onscreen, it was concluded by their fans that the two are also rivals offscreen.

Despite the rumors, the two have always maintained that they’re childhood friends and have always supported each other in their careers.

Back in 2016, the star of “Wizard of Waverly Palace” revealed to W Magazine that she and the “We Can’t Stop” singer, 30, “both liked the same guy when we were 16.

It was just a Hilary Duff–Lindsay Lohan thing: ‘Oh, my God, we like the same boy!’ But I’m a fan of her music – I don’t know if she’d say that about me…”

Miley on the other hand said on a U.K. radio station “Capital FM” in 2019, “there was never any competition” between her and Selena.

In 2022 Selena did a Miley impression while hosting Saturday Night Live, during which she called Miley “one of my oldest friends.”

But then, irrespective of the efforts made by both stars to squash the rumors, it continued.

Selena Gomez — Selena Puts An End To The Beef Rumors 

On Thursday, August 17, Miley shared on her social media that her new single titled “Used to Be Young” will be out on August 25.

That same day, barely an hour after Miley’s announcement Selena made hers as she revealed to her followers that she has returned to singing and would be dropping her singles titled, “Single Soon” on August 25.

The 31-year-old said, “Y’all have been asking for new music for a while. Since I’m not quite done with [her next album] SG3, I wanted to put out a fun little song I wrote a while back that’s perfect for the end of summer.”

With the announcements came lots of reactions from their fans as some of them took to “X” to tweet, “So it’s going to be a fight…” Another responded with, “Who else is terrified. This is my Barbenheimer.”

The following day August 18, Selena once again took to her social media to give a nod to Miley’s upcoming song and to prove once again that there is no feud whatsoever between them.

“@mileycyrus and I both have a SINGLE SOON and we are releasing on the same day. We have been friends since we USED TO BE YOUNG. Excited for August 25!!!”

The post was accompanied with a throwback photo from her Disney show “Wizard of Waverly Palace.”

Miley did the same and posted, “@selenagomez and I are both dropping our new SINGLEs SOON. I say we USED TO BE YOUNG.”

Following the shoutout from both stars, it seemed as though fans finally bought the no feud story as some of them went back to share their excitement and anticipation. One person wrote, “Very happy & excited.” Another said, “Will be streaming both.” 

A third said, “Selena gomez and miley cyrus both dropping songs on august 25th… it’s 2008 all over again,” while a fourth added, “Let’s support both Queens because both DESERVES the best of the best.
