Leave Selena Gomez alone people, honestly. It’s the 21st century and yet dissecting a lady’s looks is still a thing, and frankly, the Rare founder is tired of it all.

It may be easy for us to speculate about what a person looks or doesn’t look like online, but what we usually don’t get to see is the pain they cause.

While Marissa Barrionuevo comments were probably made from a harmless place, it wasn’t harmless to the people the comments were about.

The actress and singer took to TikTok to react to a 2023 video made by the Florida plastic surgeon assistant, denying claims that she had any cosmetic procedures on her face and body.

“Honestly I hate this,” she commented on Saturday, July 27. “I have Botox. That’s it. Leave me alone.”

Barrionuevo is known for making videos that educate viewers on different cosmetic procedures, and often also takes to speculating about the kind of work celebrities have had done.

Speaking on Gomez’s “changes,” the TikToker guessed that it’s possible the 32-year-old’s Lupus diagnosis is the reason she looks different.

“I literally have no idea what she has gotten done,” said Barrionuevo. “I think she’s been through so much in her life, especially medically related, so I don’t think it’s fair to speculate whether or not she’s gotten cosmetic things done. At the end of the day, let’s just leave her be.”

Despite this disclaimer, Barrionuevo went on to share side by side comparison pictures of Gomez from the 2023 Golden Globes and one that was several years older.

Shortly after Gomez posted her comments, Barrionuevo took to TikTok and directly addressed it.
“I really hope Selena Gomez does not hate me,” she began. “… I agree with you, I do think we should leave you alone and I said that in the video. I totally understand you still not appreciating it.”

She went on to state that she isn’t completely sure whether Gomez’s comments was directed at her video or the comments under it.

Happily, Gomez revealed that she didn’t mean to hate on her with the comment. “I love you,” Gomez wrote. “Not about you. I just get sad sometimes.”
