Singer GAYLE Is On Top Of The World And Olivia Rodrigo Is Happy For The Newcomer

Olivia Rodrigo is big on supporting other artists, especially the newcomers, and celebrating their success with them. While Olivia’s arrival in the music scene may not be as sudden as GAYLE’s since she’s already worked on some songs as a Disney star, still this time last year, Olivia Rodrigo was on top of Billboard’s global charts with her breakout single “Driver’s License”.

This year, GAYLE is enjoying the number one spot with her viral hit “abcdefu” and Olivia is happy she’s “killing it”.

GAYLE Opens Up About Possibly Collaborating With Fellow Teen Pop Star Olivia Rodrigo

GAYLE recently entered a new elite club in Hollywood as a teen pop star due to the success of breakup single “abcdefu”. The song helped the teen gain worldwide stardom and praise from her peers in the music industry.

In an interview with E! News, the star revealed that Olivia Rodrigo has not only personally reached out to her, but has been incredibly supportive of her journey so far.

“Olivia Rodrigo DMed me. That was insane,” GAYLE shared. “She was just congratulating me on the success of the song. She told me that I was killing it and that was very just nice to hear from her, especially because she’s just such an amazing artist and talented human being.”

Though Olivia reached out to the “Ur Just Horny” singer, the pair haven’t really talked about gifting fans with a collaborative single. “I would love to collaborate with Olivia. I had an opportunity to ask that but I didn’t because, you know, everybody wants to collaborate with Olivia Rodrigo,” the singer explained. She added that it would be “amazing, but I’m also not going to be like stalking her for it because she knows what she wants to do.”

GAYLE Is Proud To Be Compared With Olivia Rodrigo

With the surprising popularity of GAYLE’s breakout single and Rodrigo’s “Driver’s License”, fans can’t help but point out the similarities between the singers. However, GAYLE sees the comparisons as a compliment to her craft.

“I’m so grateful and so happy that people could look at my music and even just think it’s maybe possibly the high quality of Olivia’s is. The only problem that I have with comparisons is when they start competing us against each other,” she said. “I truly believe that we both can be great in our own ways, and she’s already great. And I’m just trying to do my thing and not suck, you know?”

“Abcdefu” is currently in its second week at No. 1 on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated Jan. 22).
