On September 23, Snoop used the Q&A period at Raising Cane’s staff appreciation event in Cancún, Mexico, to show his adoration and strong faith in his spouse.
How Snoop Stays Grounded Amidst Busy Schedules
When asked by Raising Cane’s founder, Todd Graves, about how he manages to stay grounded amidst his busy schedule, Snoop was quick to credit Shante, saying, “I attribute that to my wife. She’s like my backbone. You got to have trust and faith in other people, and I have so much trust and faith in my wife … when it comes to my family, my grandkids.”
During the event at the Moon Palace resort, Snoop also shared a personal moment involving Shante. He mentioned that she had FaceTimed him from Disneyland in California before his appearance. Reflecting on her thoughtful nature, Snoop remarked, “Those are the types of things that she does for me.”
Snoop explained that while his career often consumes most of his time, Shante plays a crucial role in reminding him to make space for special moments with family.
“I don’t know how to find time. I give her permission to give me time and to make time for those love moments and those special moments with the people that I care about the most,” added Snoop.
“Because I work so hard, and sometimes [I] can forget that they exist because [I’m] so focused on working. And I trust the fact that she keeps that always at the top of my mind.”
Snoop and Shante’s Love History
The adventure of the pair started while they were teenagers, having met at Long Beach Polytechnic High School in the 1980s.
After being married in 1997 and parting ways for a short while in 2004, they rediscovered their romance and reaffirmed their vows four years later. They are now delighted grandparents, having raised three children together.
Snoop, who featured in a recent PEOPLE magazine cover story, spoke further about his deep connection with Shante. “She understands me,” he revealed. “She’s a great mother, a tremendous grandmother, an excellent wife and a great friend. She knows how to push all of my buttons to make me act a motherf—ing fool or to make me act cool, and I love it.”
For Snoop, family has always been at the core of his happiness. “Family is everything. What makes me the happiest in my life right now is for my wife to be happy, and everybody in my family to be healthy, and to be on one accord, which is love.”
Snoop’s Raising Cane’s Celebration Contributions
Snoop was there at the Raising Cane’s celebration, which honored nearly 3,000 of the company’s leaders and their loved ones, in addition to the moving remembrance of his wife.
After his Q&A, he changed roles and performed as a DJ, mixing hits from his own repertoire with well-known songs from other genres and eras.
During the discussion, Snoop also drew parallels between himself and Raising Cane’s business model, highlighting the importance of consistency.
“Being able to listen to the consumer, and listen to the base of people who keep you successful, who keep you famous, to understand what they love about you and to continue that [is important,]” he said. “… Somebody was saying that Raising Cane’s only got chicken strips, french fries and toast. I’m like, ‘S—, that’s all you need.’ I’m the same way. I’m Snoop Dogg. I’m just me. I’m not nothing extra. I’m just Snoop Dogg, but people love coming back to it because it’s quality and it’s consistent, and I think that’s what we have in common.”
