Social Media Explodes After Lady Gaga’s “Wednesday” Casting Announcement

It’s going to be a “Bloody Mary” for goth fans as Lady Gaga is set to officially collide with the fantastical world of Netflix’s ‘Wednesday.’

Yes, this may be the official one, but unofficially, Lady Gaga has been involved with ‘Wednesday’ since day one. Or should I say her hit song ‘Bloody Mary?’

Dozens of ‘Wednesday’ and ‘Wednesday-inspired’ clips used the famous song as a backing track. “I’m gonna dance dance dance / with my hands, hands, hands,” is living rent-free in the head of nearly every hardcore ‘Wednesday’ fan.

What Character Will Lady Gaga Play In the Upcoming ‘Wednesday’ Season 2

According to multiple outlets, Lady Gaga has been cast in the upcoming season of ‘Wednesday.’

Not only that, Mama Monster is reportedly already on ground in Europe shooting with castmates Jenna Ortega (who plays Wednesday Addams), Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams), Gwendoline Christie (Larissa Weems), Luis Guzmán (Gomez Addams) and Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair).

While we don’t exactly know what part she will play in the show, Jenna Ortega did previously share the role she sees for the “Bad Romance” hitmaker in the beloved teen goth drama.

“I think Mrs. Thornhill and Wednesday had this weird mentor relationship or kind of understood each other in a certain way,” Ortega told Variety in a January 2023 interview, “so, if Lady Gaga were to be a part, I think it would have to be two monsters that understand each other.”

Fans React To Lady Gaga’s Casting In ‘Wednesday’

Fans were especially ecstatic about the casting news, with one gushing, “That’s huge news! Lady Gaga joining Wednesday Season 2 is bound to bring a whole new level of drama and energy to the show. I can already imagine her fitting perfectly into the eerie, gothic world of the Addams Family.”

Another one shared their hopes for Gaga’s role in ‘Wednesday’s’ world, writing, “Given her dramatic flair, it wouldn’t be surprising if she’s cast in a role that allows her to play an eccentric or larger-than-life character, fitting in with the quirky, dark world of the Addams Family.”

Some, however, chose to see the grim side of Gaga’s casting, seeing ‘Joker: Folie À Deux’s’ failure to be a box office success as a Gaga curse.
