Sophia Bush Shares Her Hopes For A “One Tree Hill” Reboot

We’re living in an era of reboots, revivals and remakes, and at any one time producers could choose to give new life to an old favorite.

For example, “Suits,” “Sex and the City,” and “Full House” have been rebooted and old classics like “The Addams Family” and “Bewitched” remade.

After playing Brooke Davis on all nine seasons of the teen drama, Sophia Bush believes there’s a possibility they could be called to return for more.

Across nine seasons of the show, Bush played fashionista and feminist Brooke Davis on the WB/CW show.

Even after the show ended, Bush continued to remain close to most of the cast as she’s been doing rewatch podcast “Drama Queens” with co-stars Hilarie Burton Morgan and Bethany Joy Lenz.

Last year, the show celebrated its 20th anniversary and this coming April will mark its 12th year since it aired its final episode.

Speaking to E! News, Bush revealed that she harbors hopes the show would be rebooted, though in a way that would make their feminist audience proud.

“What I will say is I think for a long time our answer to that was a firm no, we were really ready to put it to bed,” Bush admitted. “And then with the girls and I deciding that that was our show and we deserve to reclaim it, now we’re like, ‘Well what would a feminist reclamation of our show look like? The podcast has brought us some joy and I think it has changed our answer collectively from ‘never’ to ‘never say never.’ I don’t have any answers for you, but things change over time.”

Well, we remember that Bush and much of her female costars had a hard time on set as a result of abuse from creator Mark Schwan, so maybe not everyone would be excited to jump right in.

However, Bush believes that the good and the bad from the show shaped her perspective on life.
But if Brooke has to come back, Bush wants it to be done right.

“I always joke that, you know, Brooke Davis running for class president really changed the trajectory of her whole life,” Bush shared. “I’d like to see her in elected office. I’d like to see her delivering an impassioned rant about what people deserve. I think that would really be up her alley.”

At the moment, there’s no talks of a return, but perhaps if it ever saw the same resurgence that “Suits” did, the producers would undoubtedly greenlit it for another run.
