Months after the “Camp Rock” actor Joe Jonas filed for divorce from the “Game of Thrones” actress Sophie Turner, they have failed to reach a settlement in their divorce case.
Following their failure to reach a settlement, Sophie has requested that their divorce proceedings be reactivated.
The musician, 34, and the actress, 28, began dating in 2016. The following year 2017, they got engaged. In May 2019, the two had a shotgun wedding but by June they followed it up with a proper wedding.
The union produced two daughters Willa, 4, and 20-month-old whom they’ve referred to by the initials D.M.J.
On September 1, 2023, Jonas filed for divorce from Turner in a Miami court. During that period, sources close to the “Devotion” actor claimed that the “Dark Phoenix” actress went out to party with friends and left Jonas alone with the children.
And just like the sources claimed, Turner was captured hanging out with her good friend Taylor Swift who also happened to be one of Jonas’ exes.
Sophie Turner — On Turner And Jonas’ Divorce Proceedings
A month after Jonas filed for divorce, the two began battling for the custody of their kids. They kept disagreeing on who ought to be with the children and where they ought to take their children. While Jonas wanted to keep their kids with him in the United States, Turner wanted to take them to her native UK.
That same October, the “Do Revenge” actress sued Jonas for preventing her from taking her kids to the UK. They later reached an agreement in court that they would both take their kids to their respective countries as they wished. In a joint statement shared by the two, they said, “We have agreed that the children will spend time equally in loving homes in both the U.S. and the U.K. We look forward to being great co-parents.”
The agreement was reached after four days of intense mediation in New York, where the girls were staying with Turner in early October. The now-former couple agreed to go on mediation in order to avoid airing their disputes publicly. It is also so that they can reach an agreement on their divorce privately.
On Monday, March 18, Turner’s legal team asked a judge to “reactivate” the divorce proceedings since they’ve failed to reach a settlement. The lawsuit which was filed in Miami-Dade County, Florida, explained that “the abatement has come to an end.” Elsewhere, a rep for the musician said in a statement that the divorce reactivation is “a legal formality,” and that “the couple continues to negotiate an amicable resolution.”
