Succession J. Smith-Cameron Once Threw A Martini At Co-Star Kieran Culkin — Here’s Why

The bond between these co-stars J. Smith-Cameron and Kieran Culkin from the multiple Emmy-winning series “Succession” goes beyond the screen.

They’re also good buddies offset. The two who turned out to be fan-favorite characters in the hit series, played the roles of Gerri Kellman and Roman Roy.

However, Smith appeared on the Wednesday episode of the “Late Night,” and told host Seth Meyers that she and Kieran are very close to the extent that it influenced the characters they were given to play in the HBO drama series. She even recalled the day she jokingly sprinkled her Martini on Kieran for being a “little slime puppy.”

Smith went ahead to explain what brought about the exchange. She shared that it took place one night when the castmates were having dinner, and the “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off” actor wouldn’t stop teasing her for not being able to hear what the other castmates were saying.

The 66-year-old actress said, “That was one evening after a table read and we all went to dinner. He was just riding me the whole time, like being horrid,” she continued, “Like, if I couldn’t hear something that everyone was laughing about at the other end of the table and I’d be like, ‘What’d he say? What’d he say?’ [and] he’d be like, ‘Oh, I’m sorry, dear. Did you forget your hearing aids?’”

She said that Kieran didn’t stop there, “If I yawned, he’d be like, ‘Is it past your bedtime? That’s so terrible.’ So, you know, at one point I just threw my martini at him.” And to prove Smith right, Seth, 50, provided a photo of Kieran, 41, and Smith, which was taken that night with Kieran’s shirt drenched.

Upon sighting the picture, Smith jokingly told the audience, “He was asking for it!” and they applauded her for it. That night was not the first time Smith and Kieran made jest of each other. In fact, during an interview with “Variety,” the “A Real Pain” actor interrupted Smith mid-speech just to mimic her words.

While mimicking her, Kieran said, “I love Kieran Culkin and he’s my absolute favorite to work with even though he’s an a–hole to me and I hate him in our personal life.” He then switched to his own voice and said, “You really hate me, don’t you? You look lovely. You smell nice,” Smith, who couldn’t help but smile, went on to ask him for a “little kiss,” prompting Kieran to give her a peck.
