‘Supergirl’ Star Melissa Benoist Cast in New HBO Series

Melissa Benoist lands another TV role following the success of the hit series, “Supergirl.”    Melissa Benoist got her first major role as Marley Rose when she joined the cast of the successful musical series, “Glee,” but she rose to fame when she started to portray the role of Kara Zor-El or famously known as Supergirl. When her superpower role concluded last November 2021, Benoist will once again land on the small screens as she signed up for HBO Max’s “The Girl on the Bus.”

The upcoming TV series is all about the writer and reporter, Amy Chozick’s, novel “Chasing Hillary,” which covers the time when Hillary Clinton campaigned for the presidency for “The New York Times.”

Melissa Benoist – Signs With Warner Brothers Discovery Again

For “The Girl on the Bus,” Melissa Benoist will play Sadie McCarthy, who sets aside her plans just to cover a presidential campaign. According to the logline, “Sadie hits the trail and eventually bonds with three female competitors. Despite their differences, these women become a found family with a front-row seat to the greatest soap opera in town; the battle for the White House.”

The 33-year-old actress will be joined by the comedian and director, Natasha Behnam, who will play Lola Gabriel, a sharp-witted and passionately political TikTok star and a lead opposite to Benoist’s character.

Recently, the “Whiplash” star connected with the Warner Brothers Discovery again as it renewed its exclusive overall deal with the actress, including working with the company’s platform, like HBO Max. Aside from being reunited with “Supergirl” executive producer, Greg Berlanti, she will also work on her company Three Things Productions, headed by the president of development, Sahar Kashi.
