What do Taylor Swift and Beyonce going on tour have in common with the Barbie movie’s popularity? All three share blame for more women breaking up with boyfriends or divorcing their husbands, according to a new report.

Barbie – Blamed For Divorce Increase
Blame it on Barbie. The popular movie, along with world tours from Taylor Swift and Beyonce, have inspired an increase in breakups, claims celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser.
Her client list includes Ariana Grande, Kevin Costner and Britney Spears, according to People.
And Wasser believes that the pop music singers, Barbie movie, and Hollywood 2023 Writers And Actors’ strikes also played a role in more divorces. “Something going on with a lot of my clients and what I’m seeing here in Southern California is that we’re in the middle of one of the worst strikes in history for the writers and the actors,” noted the attorney.

“So you’ve also got people who have more time on their hands. They’re angry about our reproductive rights getting rolled back, they’re feeling their power by going to see Barbie and Taylor and Beyonce,” added Wasser. “And they’re like, ‘I don’t need this. I’m the one making this money and I’m not comfortable, not working, and have this spouse who’s either also not working or never was working.’ A lot of people have said, ‘I’m out.’ So it’s compounded by what’s going on here economically.”

Women Initiate 7 In 10 Divorces
And recent statistics support Wasser’s theory that women feel empowered after seeing Taylor Swift and Beyonce on tour as well as the Barbie movie. Studies reveal that women initiate 7 in 10 heterosexual divorces. And many Barbie movie viewers revealed that they split from their boyfriends after viewing the film.
Meanwhile, Swift, 33, will usher her Eras Tour concert film into movie theaters next month. And Beyonce, 42, remains on tour, appealing to fans around the world. As for the Barbie film, it became the highest-grossing movie of the year.

And after taking in more than $1 billion at the global box office, Barbie has topped at-home streaming charts. Margot Robbie stars in the Barbie film, as well as producing the movie with her husband Tom Ackerley. And Greta Gerwig directed the movie, co-writing it with her partner Noah Baumbach.
As for those facing a divorce, Wasser offered advice. “I think you really have to embrace the fact that this is the next chapter. This is not a sad death,” pointed out the attorney. “This is the first day of the rest of your life,” added Wasser. “And you are going to be stronger as a result of coming through this. It’s definitely a challenge,” she admitted. “But it’s a challenge filled with promise.”
