Renowned music legend Sir Elton John has recently disclosed shocking details about an alleged assassination attempt on his life in his new book, “Farewell Yellow Brick Road.”

The singer recounted a harrowing experience where he seemed to be attacked while performing on stage, and he provided fans with a vivid description of the incident.

This left many worried that he had been harmed by an overzealous admirer, especially after he was seen with blood on his face during the show.

This unsettling event occurred at a concert in Greensboro, North Carolina, during the “Benny And The Jets” tour in 1974. Reports indicate that John was abruptly pulled away from his piano mid-performance, leading his bandmates to fear that he had been shot.

According to Radar Online, a drug user in the audience reportedly hurled a metal pipe at John, which was later identified as a hash pipe. The object struck him squarely in the temple, leading him to temporarily “black out” as blood streamed down his face.

John shared his experience in “Farewell Yellow Brick Road,” elaborating on the event. He remarked, “Fans have frequently tossed items onstage during my performances, but it’s typically something soft; this has never occurred in Greensboro.”

John observed that his bodyguard, the former Mr. Universe Jim Morris, had to pull him to the side of the stage while the performer was still in costume.

The singer reminisced about the shocking incident, recounting, “While we were performing Burn Down the Mission, a silver pipe hit me on the head, making me bleed-I instantly lost consciousness. The band continued playing for a moment, not fully grasping what had just transpired. John remarked that the feathers on the costume were causing some problems; “Feathers were scattered all around while a paramedic was there, wrapping my head.”

Remarkably, John noted that despite the chaos, this event has turned into one of his “favorite” memories from his touring days, obviously seeing the humor in the feathery situation.

The incident could have been so much worse, had it actually been an assassination attempt by a disgruntled individual.
