The Good Doctor Spinoff Signs Felicity Huffman Following College Admissions Scandal

In 2019, investigators revealed that several wealthy parents had paid thousands of dollars in bribes to get their children into elite schools in the US. They did this by sending money to a fake charity, and in turn they got fake athletic credentials and rigged test scores for their children.

Felicity Huffman, one of the parents involved in the scandal, spent 11 days in prison for the crime.

Now, she’s set to return to our screens with a recurring role in the upcoming “The Good Doctor” spinoff.

The Good Doctor Spinoff Signs Felicity Huffman Following College Admissions Scandal

In October 2020, Huffman completed her full sentence in the college admissions scandal, which includes minor jail time, community service and supervised release.

Her punishment came after she pleaded guilty to paying disgraced admissions consultant Rick Singer $15,000 to have an insider change her daughter’s SAT test answers so that she’ll pass.

Out of the 14 days she was sentenced, she served 11 in October 2019.

In addition to this, she received 250 hours of community service and was on supervised release for one year.

Another star that got tainted from the scandal was “Full House” actress Lori Loughlin, but she has since made a comeback by attending Red Carpet events and continuing to work with charities.

Unlike Loughlin, who was charged alongside her husband Mossimo Giannulli, Felicity Huffman was charged alone and her “Shameless” star husband, William H. Macy, was not found guilty. After four years away from the spotlight, Huffman, 60, is making a comeback in “The Good Doctor’s” spinoff, “The Good Lawyer.”

According to Deadline, the actress will play Janet Stewart, a highly regarded attorney and partner at the law firm with a fierce intellect and dry wit. The legal show’s cast also consists of Kennedy McMann and The Good Doctor’s Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore).
