Claire Holt is impressed at how her The Vampire Diaries co-stars kept it professional throughout the show after ending their relationship in 2013. While she’s not one to date a co-star because of the awkwardness of it all, she’s giving a thumbs-up to Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder for their professionalism whilst dating and after a breakup.

The 32-year-old Australian actress played Rebekah Mikaelson in the popular series The Vampire Diaries and its spinoff The Originals from 2009 – 2018 between both movies.

Recently, Claire Holt gave an update on how the former flames handled their on-screen romance after their breakup, which happened three years after it was confirmed that they were dating in 2010.

“I was on The Originals at that point so I don’t know the timing. But honestly, they were really—they kept it super professional, it never got weird, like props to them. They did a great job at managing that. But it’s hard like for a lot of people it’s really tough,” she revealed on Dear Media’s Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast.

Their off-screen romance may have ended in 2013, but their on-screen romance continued long after that. After leaving the series at the end of season 6, fans speculated that the two parted ways because of their split.

Dobrev confirmed that it was not the case, also saying that she’s remained friends with Ian Somerhalder and is happy for him when he married Nikki Reed in 2015.

“I’ve said this before, that we didn’t break up because anything bad happened or because there wasn’t love or friendship,” Nina told host Maria Menounos. “I love him and the friendship is still strong and I think he’s great and I care about him. And that didn’t change. Yes, we’re professional and that’s fine. We were friends long before we dated and we still are now.”

Nina Dobrev has not only managed to remain friends with Somerhalder but is friends with his wife as well. It prompted her fans to be curious about how she could be friends with both her ex and her ex’s wife without it being weird.

In reply, Nina said: “I don’t think that’s weird at all. I think that’s great. Why can’t everyone be friends?”

Nina Dobrev’s Relationship With Shaun White

While a lot of Nina Dobrev’s past relationships have burned out fast, sources believe that her latest with White could even lead to the actress getting engaged.

“Nina and Shaun are very happy together at the moment,” a source shared with Us Weekly in April, adding that they “wouldn’t be surprised if an engagement is around the corner.”

The insider also believes that Nina Dobrev is in a happy and healthy place in her relationship with Shawn White. “Nina has had a lot of relationships not work out in the past, but ever since meeting Shaun, you can tell she’s just really excited about how far this relationship has come,” the source said. “They’re gradually taking steps to start a future together.”
