According to TMZ, Tiger Woods was arrested in Jupiter, Florida, for drinking under the influence. More on this story, below.
Tiger Woods’s DUI Accident
Woods was speeding down a street, clipped a truck, and rolled his Range Rover, with these events all occurring at 2 p.m. ET on Friday, March 27.
As per the report, a pickup truck attempted to turn into a driveway when Woods’ vehicle sped down the street.
As the Range Rover was going at such a high speed, the truck was not fully in the driveway. This caused Woods’ car to clip the pickup, causing the Range Rover to flip over on the driver’s side.
Wood climbed out of the passenger window, and authorities arrived on the scene a little after the accident occurred.
Police saw that the golf star looked as if he were lethargic and impaired. They performed an alcohol test that hit 0.00%.
Press Conference Coverage
The Sheriff noted during a press conference that he believed Tiger was under the influence of medication, not alcohol.
Woods was arrested and taken to the station, and declined a urine test. He was arrested on a DUI and refusal to submit to urinalysis.
The golf pro requires a minimum of 8 hours in custody before he can be out on bail. The Sheriff noted that Tiger had told them he had multiple surgeries, which were taken into consideration, but upon assessment, he failed a number of field sobriety tests. The good news is that neither the pickup driver nor Woods was injured.
Woods’ DUI History
This isn’t the first time Woods has been arrested for a DUI. Back in 2017 he faced the same charges in Jupiter, Florida.
At that time, video footage revealed Woods wobbling on the road, looking impaired; however, Tiger made a statement claiming it was an “unexpected reaction” to prescription medication.
He also had a rollover crash in 2021, where he almost lost his leg in L.A. County. No arrest at that time, as the authorities noted it was just an accident and there was “no evidence of impairment”.
