Todd Chrisley Reveals Love After Lockup Is Harder Than Prison

Todd Chrisley and his wife Julie restarted their Chrisley Confessions podcast, and he talked about Love After Lockup. Of course, that’s a WEtv show, and he’s never been on it. But, it seemed interesting because he revealed that life inside prison is easier than life outside of it. Read on for more details.

Checking Out The WEtv Show

This week, Todd and his wife, who served over two years behind bars for alleged fraud and tax-related offenses, did their second podcast since their pardon by Donald Trump. He still gets his many Chrisley Knows Best fans in stitches with his dry, one-liners.

However, the subject matter was quite serious as they discussed how life seemed easier in prison. Todd said, “I want to I want to research [the show] cuz I want to find out if their love after lockup is kind of like my love after lockup.”

Life Is Harder In Real Life

Todd Chrisley discussed how being in prison separates you from the rest of the world. While life goes on, inside, it seems to stand still. Actually, it appears that as everything is structured and folks inside don’t need to try and control anything, it’s a shock when they get out.

For starters, people change, and fans and Todd felt that Julie Chrisley seemed less soft and pliable. Now, she’s taking on the responsibilities of being a mom again. And Todd, it seems, is refining his well-known brand of humor.

Surreal Existence

When her dad got let out of prison, Savannah Chrisley described it as surreal. Actually, for interviewers and bloggers, it also seems surreal. Who would have thought that this day would actually come? Now it has, are Todd and Julie celebrities? They no longer have a reality TV show, so that means they are no longer D-Listers. But, they certainly sit in the spotlight.

Celebs or not, Todd seemed determined to learn from his time behind bars. Notably, both of them seemed to find it hard to adjust to life outside. In fact, Julie described it as “weird,” and so do others who were inside and got out.

Todd felt that “weird” didn’t begin to describe life after lockup. He told Julie, “No, it’s not weird. Life is rougher than prison life. I mean, that’s a sad thing to say because it is so horrific, the conditions that you’re there for but that’s from a physical standpoint.”

He added, “but from an emotional and psychological standpoint, it is harder dealing with day to day.”

Getting Used To A Cloistered World

It seemed to trouble Julie a lot more that she retreated into an emotional igloo in prison. She said, in part:

You can’t live out there and in here at the same time because it’ll literally run you crazy. And the longer you’re there, the more removed you become to the world. The longer that people are away from their kids, as crazy as it sounds, because it’s a double-edged sword, the easier it becomes because you get into your own routine.

A Missed Opportunity By WEtv?

Life After Lockup and other WEtv spinoffs don’t really examine the adjustment. The shows reveal people making some questionable decisions, but it seems the psychological issues the inmates face could have been better looked into. After all, it interested fans a lot to hear Todd Chrisley and his wife discuss that side of it.
