Tom Brady Is Not Retiring From Football Anytime Soon Following Divorce

Tom Brady made headlines this year, and it’s not just because of his bad season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His wife of 13 years, Gisele Bündchen, divorced him after he returned to football following his brief retirement.

Bündchen was not happy with the quarterback when he defaulted on their deal that he would retire in order to be more present in the lives of their kids.

Tom Brady – Says Discouraging Season Won’t Make Him Retire

This week, the NFL star joined co-hosts Jim Gray and Larry Fitzgerald on his Let’s Go! weekly podcast Monday to discuss his plans with Football. Earlier this year, the sportsman announced to the world that he’s retiring, but it didn’t last.

However, he’s promising fans that the next time he does retire, it would be for real. But it’s not something that’ll be happening soon, that’s for sure.

“I think next time I decide to retire, that’s it for me,” Brady joked, hinting at the time he retired and “unretired” 40 days later. “So whenever that day comes, we’ll figure it out.”

As for when he’s prepping to say goodbye to the sport which he enjoyed and played so well, he said: “I really don’t. I think what I really realized last year was you’ve got to be really sure to do that. And for me, you know, a lot of people have kind of gone through this situation.”

He added: “I’m going to take my time, whenever that time does come.”

Despite having an overall discouraging season, Brady and the Bucs ended on a high note, defeating the Arizona Cardinals 19-16 in overtime on Christmas Day.

In October, Brady shut down rumors that he intends to leave the team mid-season – a claim that came from a former Bucs quarterback, Chris Simms.

Simms claimed the quarterback would leave the team to deal with family issues after his wife threatened to divorce him for coming out of retirement.

Even though he truly was going through a divorce with his wife at the time, he turned down the idea that he might leave NFL.

“I love the sport, I love the teammates and I want to go do a good job for this team like I always have,” Brady said. “So no retirement in my future.”
